Out having a drink with a friend yesterday when she noticed she had a knot in her hair and laughed about it and said “oh I never brush my hair, my boyfriend brushes my hair for me”

She has no disability that prevents her from brushing her hair and seemingly managed to do it just fine in the 30 years she didn’t know him.

Aibu to think it’s odd a grown woman with no disability has her boyfriend brush her hair?

My partner brushes my hair. I love it. I find it super relaxing. It is one of my favourite feelings.

Ooh OP is calling names <checks clock> I'm here to stay.

😂

I don't think it is that unusual for a male partner to brush a woman's hair. Some like to do things like that. I doubt that she never brushes or combs her own hair but he probably does most of it.

How nice, wish mine had.

@raydellsna Were
We're all different I guess.

Arginalia · 02/05/2023 07:45

It sounds like a nice, sensual thing they do together - I doubt you'd have batted an eyelid if she'd had tense shoulders and gone on to say her boyfriend regularly gives her a massage.

Silly Billy and cheeky monkey? 🙊

Let me guess, teaching assistant in a nursery?

OP is coming a cross as very policing and resentful in general. Lighten up!

And you needed advice from internet strangers about this why?

It is amazing what people make threads about really , I'm assuming they are just bored . Anyway here I am commenting on a thread about nothing really .

Dh brushed my hair once. It was just after an emergency section and I was out of it on morphine. He wanted to take a photo of me and baby.

When I saw the photos (which had already been distributed to family) he'd managed to make me look like an early Ken Barlow.

🤣 I can imagine that!

A nice middle part - curtains, or, a side part with just a little brushed across the forehead. She'll love that 🤣.

I would think it was a bit of a brag about her boyfriend, letting people know how great he is (in her eyes). People are sometimes weird about relationships, particularly if they haven’t been in one for long etc. e.g. prefacing every conversation with we or my boyfriend blah blah.

The people being snide to the OP don’t surprise me, it’s business as usual for MN. I don’t get the need for it, but it’s rife.

gelliprintcess · 03/05/2023 02:29

It's a bit odd to mention (and does come across as a brag of some sort). I do love the sensation of having my hair gently brushed, but I brush it myself except occasionally, because I doubt DH would appreciate me asking him to do it every day!

There's nothing odd about having someone you love brush your hair, particularly when compared to all the objectively disgusting things that partners and spouses do to/with/for one another.

Don’t gaslight me into thinking I’m weird you cheeky monkey.

FFS. Isn't "gaslight" a bit dramatic?

Perhaps her husband has a hair fetish. So what?

I assumed 70+ aged woman. That's how they talk to me at church in a "oh you young people!" voice, when I'm actually mid 40s. 🤣
