I do this all the time. I live in a country where cranberry sauce has to be imported so I just use jam. It’s pretty much the same thing.

I eat jam and pate sandwiches so I say go for it

I put marmalade on fried bread so I'm in no position to judge

Cranberry is for Turkey, have bread sauce or some mustard, mustard is always appropriate.
