'Do you know the symptoms of bowel cancer?' Every. Single. Time. There's raising awareness now and again but I find this too much.

I am aware of the symptoms. I already have some anxiety around health issues and cancer having lost my first DH to cancer. I don't want to be constantly reminded every time I read this board. I am awfully sorry for anyone suffering from this disease. I mean no disrespect. I know you cannot opt out of it. I have not had cancer myself but have experienced the horrendous pain of watching someone so close to me have a very aggressive cancer.

AIBU? And does anyone know if these can be changed or switched off? It's in amongst the threads, almost as though it is another thread.

I agree. I find all the adds really annoying. Especially with them being mixed into the threads

Notimeforaname · 01/05/2023 15:01

I'm devastated those fucking gardening videos are back. It's not her fault but I'm sick of looking at that womans face.

IamSuperTired · 01/05/2023 15:02

I'm finding the ads incredibly incredibly annoying. Bloody Mumsnet!

missmollygreen · 01/05/2023 15:03

Brave browser. No adverts... bliss

Elphame · 01/05/2023 15:05

Ad blockers are your friend here. I held out for ages as I know they fund sites but too many sites are too loaded with them now.

They've killed the golden goose as far as I'm concerned.

The one about ‘Real mums’ boils my puss. Wtf is a real mum? Surely a mum is a mum or is there a special superior breed of mumsnet ‘real mums’?

Agreed (also love that it boils your puss...). I'm not a mum but this is the kind of nonsense that contributes to people feeling inadequate / insecure.

These adverts masquerading as posts are tedious.

Mabelface · 01/05/2023 15:46

I hate the bowel cancer one. My mum died of colon cancer recently and this site is meant to be a distraction for me. There are too many mumsnet ads mixed in with posts.

PinkArt · 01/05/2023 15:47

Agreed. The I like this banana shampoo and the hilarious cards for women ones are pretty cringe 'marketing for the girls', but the are you going to die from bowel cancer one feels badly thought out to be placed in the same way.
