Next door neighbour hugging me everytime she sees me. We aren't close, just on friendly terms. I'm guessing maybe she's lonely as only has one adult son living at home and is single ?
Aibu to approach this and how?

I think if you don’t like it either deal with it directly and say “I’m not much of a higher actually” or just do something like step back and say “oh better not hug as I’ve got a virus”…..and keep doing until she gets the picture.

There are so many people in the world who are not huggers, and yet so many people do it without thinking. I am a hugger but never hug a ‘new’ person without asking. Next time she goes in just stand back a but and say ‘you know what I’m not really a hugger but I appreciate the sentiment’ And laugh a bit. Then quickly change the subject.
