Spoilsport.

Do you think it would frighten her?

2shoesisabirdkiller · 17/02/2008 09:58

yanbu
it would go way over her head.

misdee · 17/02/2008 10:00

heh. i'm trying to remember how scary it is in parts.

dh is also saying no. she tried to get him to order 'at worlds end' as well.

she would love all the pirtae bits and all the ships, but i do not think its a good choice of film for a toddler.

My five year old DS loves pirates but I won't let him watch it. He's a sensitive soul and I know it would frighten him.

misdee · 17/02/2008 10:12

she is now distracted with her leap pad thingy.

must hide the pirate dvd's lol.

i'm trying to think of some pirate thingt she can watch and i am drawing a blank.

Peter Pan or Treasure Island ?

juuule · 17/02/2008 10:13

Peter Pan?
The first Pirates of the Carribean?

MummyDoIt · 17/02/2008 10:17

Captain Pugwash! There was a freebie in one of the Sunday papers a few weeks ago. Our neighbour gave it to us and my boys, especially DS2, are absolutely hooked.

MummyDoIt · 17/02/2008 10:19

Amazon have got a couple of Captain Pugwash DVDs or check out your local charity shop. Sometimes the feebie ones from the papers end up there. Or ask on your local Freecycle. Someone might have that one from the paper and not want it.

platesmasher · 17/02/2008 10:19

I bought that DVD for DS1 who is also 3.
Stupidly didn't watch it first and had to switch it off after 2 minutes because it wasn't suitable.
He wasn't impressed but soon forgot the DVD existed.
YANBU.

smartiejake · 17/02/2008 10:26

No I wouldn't show this to a 3 year old. It's quite disturbing in places and a very complicated plot that a three year old would find hard to follow. It's a 12 cert BTW
I remember Captain Pugwash from when I was a kid. Wasn't it banned for lewd names or something? (Seaman Staines or the like?)

juuule · 17/02/2008 10:32

Ooops the first Pirates of the Carribean is the Curse of the Black Pearl Getting my Pirates confused.

Wisteria · 17/02/2008 10:35

smartiejake - it's an urban myth - the cabin boy wasn't called Roger either!

bookwormmum · 17/02/2008 10:56

Not at all. My brother was watching this at Christmas but I made him turn it off when my dd(7) came home.

Plenty of time for 12 films when she is 12.

cory · 17/02/2008 11:16

I'm not letting my 7yo watch it either.

spaghettiarms · 17/02/2008 11:18

We haven't showed Pirates of the Carribean to DS1 4 just doesn't feel right.. he loves pirates.

AbbeyA · 17/02/2008 11:21

She wouldn't understand it-it will still be around when she is older.

misdee · 17/02/2008 11:22

glad i am not being unreasonable.
