Anxiety about taking a new medication…

I have severe anxiety to the point where I hardly go out or leave the house.

I’ve been prescribed Pregabalin because it’s the only anxiety medication that doesn’t interact with my current meds and I’ve heard that it is genuinely a game changer for my level of anxiety.

The only problem is the anxiety around taking it… one of my anxieties is that I’ll somehow have a really bad life threatening reaction to it and it worries me so much to the point where I would rather suffer than risk it.

Is there anyone else who feels like this? I know it’s not rational either but it just shows my level of anxiety

I'm so sorry you are struggling.
My cousin experiences anxiety to the same extent as you so that any attempt to use medication to help her fails because she Googles side effects and makes herself even more anxious and refuses to take the meds.
Your doctor is confident that this medication is safe and right for you. Your focus on risk is just the anxiety determined to mess things up for you again.
This drug could really change your life for the better.

I wish you luck. I know this is very hard but try to visualise how it will be if this drug works well and you feel able to go out of the house.

I can totally relate to how you are feeling op! I have anxiety when it comes to taking anything new - food, drinks and especially medication. Apart from omeprazole and lemsip when I feel ill I won’t take anything else. On occasions in the past where I have been prescribed antibiotics I have taken them when someone else is in the house and clock watched for the next few hours incase.
Its awful and I hate feeling that way so have absolute sympathy for you.
