To ask for help with my style

Posting shamelessly for traffic (got no responses in style/beauty)

I'm fed up of looking dumpy in my (ill-fitting) skinny jeans and tshirt/hoody combos, I see other people out and about in their lovely put together outfits and I feel like a sack of tatties!
I've never been a massive follower of fashion, I don't have a clue what looks good and have always gone to my "safe" options. But since having my DC (3yo and 7mo) I just feel horrible in everything I wear!
I'm early 30s, 5'1, size 8/10 on top and 12/14 on the bottom, everything looks ridiculous because I am so out of proportion!
I like dresses but nothing I've tried suits me due to it either being too big on top (to fit my thighs/bum/hips) or too tight at the thighs/bum/hips. I also hate my legs so am forever wearing tights.
If relevant - I'm very pale (look ridiculous with a tan so have just embraced the pale!), have dark hair and eyes. Tend to wear black/navy/burgundy/khaki.

Any ideas of where to start? Some basic must-haves? Suggestions of clothes that would suit my body type/suggestions of clothes to avoid?

Maybe a personal shopping appointment somewhere will help? It's their job to find clothes that look good on you!
