I’ve always been academically smart. But I studied psychology at university at 19 and dropped out after my first year due to personal circumstances. I loved my course but had zero parental support (they were high earners so I had a v low student loan). I ended up getting a job to prevent homelessness and was very stressed.
I’m 26 and earn £35k a year as a civil servant in operations/management. It feels dead end. I don’t earn enough to buy a house (single).
I want to back to university, but I don’t think psychology is for me anymore due to the lack of career prospects. I was toying with the idea of potentially studying medicine but am happy to get a wake-up call! Alternatively, I am good with data analytics as a career change, but I can self-teach a lot of that.
