To try and outstare a fox

Back story is we have a family of foxes living under our decking, and have done for years. I love them and leave them alone. Today I needed to let my ex(rescue) greyhound out after his tea and one of the young ones was near the house. The fox eyed me and I eyed him. I was worried that my dog would spot the fox and get agitated, so the idea was that the fox would run off, without alerting the dog.

What happened was the stupid greyhound was totally oblivious to the fox and me and the fox were having a stare-off, with neither of us knowing who would allow the other one to disappear first.

Well, if you had blinked the fox would have disappeared into a puff of smoke. Since you didn't blink he couldn't activate the transformer (with his opposable thumbs).

If you find a solution let me know I was face to face with one sat on the roof of my car ....or should I say his bloody car.... at 8am

When the fox decided to amble off he turned and looked me over his shoulder. It was a combination of, 'We both know I'm here, and I'm pausing for you to take my photo', which I did.
