Sorry if the wrong group to post in but has anyone made a career change to project management and able to recommend the 'best' course to do? Thanks

Prince.

OtterlyMad · 28/04/2023 14:02

Prince2 (Foundation then Practitioner) or APM (PFQ then PMQ) are most respected in my field.

Plankingplanks · 28/04/2023 14:05

Prince 2 is the most shockingly boring overly complicated course that you will never use in real life.... But it's recognised as good practice.

GrabbyGabby · 28/04/2023 14:35

Many companies are moving to Agile. Prince it v thorough, but can be hard to adapt to particular circumstances. Agile is more adaptable, and i think more marketable atm

passingthru · 28/04/2023 14:38

I would say Prince2 is perhaps losing its value a little now and Agile will open more doors for you - AgilePm foundation would be a good place to start.

Depends on the industry you want to work in. Agile is more useful in IT, but linear (traditional) project management is used in construction. APM is the standard qualification at my company, and it is useful. It’ll give you a good foundation.

CabbageKale · 28/04/2023 15:02

Which industry?

CindersAgain · 28/04/2023 15:04

When I asked about this I was ridiculed for considering PRINCE2 and told it’s only used in the nhs.
