Tv cable - can anything be done?

Just had someone put up our tv to walk and when I looked at the power cable this is what I saw (see pic). He claims it was wrapped around the bracket and was like that, I’m pretty sure it wasn’t. Anyway my mistake for trying to save money by finding the cheapest person. What can I do now - can this be fixed if so how?

Yes, you can make that safe easily and cheaply. Just get an in-line connection box eg https://www.screwfix.com/p/debox-24a-in-line-junction-box-white/8692h to safely enclose the connector box. Tbh what he's done, wrapping a connector block in insulating tape, was common in the past even though it's not good practice.

Nb you can get those at any DIY or hardware shop; just ask for an in-line cable connector.

Don't touch those wires unless the plug is out of the socket!

Jeez what a dangerous handy person you used leaving it like that. I suspect they cut the wire to v feed up a pipe on the wall then bodged that connection. One eye isn't even in the block! Previous poster had provided the cheap and safe solution.

Easy fix but I can’t believe you were left like that!
as above- make sure plug is out before you fix. I wonder what he charged and what he did.

Thank you @DivorcedAndDelighted im feeling so upset. It seems like I can never do anything right, I thought it would be nice to have tv up today. Why am I so bad at getting anything sorted.
