Hate being fobbed off!

Had a missed bin collection this week. Reported it to the council expecting that they'd send someone round. They've emailed back saying they couldn't locate my bin so didn't collect it, but I fail to believe they couldn't locate all 12 of the neighbours bins that were out and weren't collected.... Just here to moan really as I hate being fobbed off. What are the chances of our bins being collected if I call to complain? Don't have a car to go to the tip and have nowhere to put my daughter's nappies as the bin is full!

They won't return for 1 missed bin.

They should return for 12 bins. They missed a whole street! But they won't.
Email a complaint. Speak to your neighbours & get them to complain as well. It won't get your bins collected this tine but hopefully will stop you being missed again.
Maybe one of your neighbbours will help with a tip run?

They should return for the whole street though?

I’d phone them back and tell them this definitely wasn’t the case and tell them very clearly they’ll have nappies piling up in the street if not. Worth a go?

No. Email back. Complain. Contest it, say you fail to accept they couldn't find bin, when they managed the others. Sounds like nonsense to me.

They won't return for 1 missed bin.

They did when they missed mine but I guess every council is different.

crossstitchingnana · 28/04/2023 11:16

My council will collect one missed bin, same or next day.

SerendipityJane · 28/04/2023 11:45

My council have a policy that it's not a missed collection until 5pm. The phones close at 4 and submitting a ticket via their website (if and when you can, they keep breaking the system) gets you a reply to that effect.

Go figure.

So when you report it the next day, you are told that it can take until 5pm on the following day until it's "re-missed" (if you see what I mean).

So reporting the day after that means they basically leave it until the next collection.

A great tool in dealing with fobber-offers, is to make calls via a PC so you can record them (since Android and iOS are shy about such things).

I'd respond or lodge a new complaint saying they missed the whole street so clearly the bin collectors missed it or couldn't be arsed., and say you will complain.
