Tidying up after the cleaners

Isaidmaybeee · 26/04/2023 18:12

Is this normal?

I have two cleaners come for two hours, so pay for four hours in total.
My house is tidy and everything in its place, I just hate and don’t have time to do mopping, windows, oven etc etc
My parents are staying with us for a short holiday. When we came back today, everything was very clean as always, but their room had the carpet on the bed, pillows on the bed (supposed to be on the floor-it’s my Dds room and she has a little reading corner etc) All clearly been cleaned but things thrown everywhere, we’ve just spent time tidying up

Is this normal?!

I realise their job isn’t to tidy up, but surely it’s not to leave it messier than it was 🤷🏻‍♀️I don’t expect everything to be back in the exact place it was in, but surely you don’t mess up made bed and chuck the carpets on it and all the various cushions from the room, it also had my Dds book baskets chucked on it

Carpets on the bed is disgusting. They would not be allowed back.

They also left the front gate slightly open and my dog was put in the front garden, luckily we got back maybe 10 minutes after they left, I’m amazed she didn’t run out/off

Please don't put your dog at risk again. They sound terrible.

Emigratingimmigrant · 26/04/2023 18:40

Op sounds as annoying as their brand new username said out loud

Somanysocks · 26/04/2023 18:42

Can't understand people saying you're petty.

I8toys · 26/04/2023 18:32

Petty

Absolutely not petty. Carpets on a bed is unhygienic and dog could have run off/been run over.

nomoredriving · 26/04/2023 18:44

@Blondewithredlips I assume OP means rig on bed, because how the fuck do you put a carpet on bed? But why is a rug unhygienic? It's in a child's bedroom, who isn't I assume wearing shoes, or shitting on it?

greenwaterbottle12 · 26/04/2023 18:44

Do you think they were making a point as in please leave this stuff on the bed before we clean as it's easier that picking it all up first?

We’re saying the stuff on the bed is petty, not the dog.

A rug is for the floor not on the bed. Disgusting.

FotheringtonThomasMinor · 26/04/2023 18:46

The dog is the issue, I think. But I’d just mention it to them rather than report it if they’re normally good.

Twiglets1 · 26/04/2023 18:46

It doesn’t even look like a rug, more like a throw.
Definitely not a carpet, more exaggeration 🙄

nomoredriving · 26/04/2023 18:48

@Blondewithredlips it really is a non issue, it's not disgusting GrinGrinGrinGrin

thebaneofmylifeisacat · 26/04/2023 18:48

Well I don't have a cleaner but if I did I wouldn't be impressed to come back to that. The gate open is totally unacceptable.

We pay for my dads cleaner as hes 89 and they are fantastic.

Isaidmaybeee · 26/04/2023 18:51

She’s just replied back to me apologising saying it’s new cleaners

Not petty at all. You're paying for a service to be delivered to a certain standard. Well done for being assertive.

Also, rugs are meant for the floor, I wouldn't have one on my bed even temporarily.

Obviously we have different ideas about hygiene eeewww

thebaneofmylifeisacat · 26/04/2023 19:00

Agree about the rug it should never be on the bed!

Not petty you pay and that's it!

BubblinTrouble · 26/04/2023 19:00

No this would annoy me and I wouldn’t expect this. For context, our cleaners make the bed and pick things up off the floor and put away nicely.

FourTeaFallOut · 26/04/2023 19:01

Isn't it just to demonstrate that they hoovered under them and not around them?

Agency cleaners? They're in a rush to get to their next job. They're probably earning min wage absolute maximum.

My cleaner (who I now employ directly) was paid below NMW and she was considered self employed by them. A lot of the agencies are absolute crooks who exploit women

What a disgusting thing to say. My children are fine. I have no issues but expect rugs to stay on floors and not beds. It is unhygienic

nomoredriving · 26/04/2023 19:14

@Blondewithredlips I mean germs germs germs, a rug on a bed, we will all cat h something disgusting, how will we all survive.... the germs!

What will happen to your children!

Don't say ewww to me if you don't want it back!!

Ridiculous that you think that's so "unhygienic"!

You'll bring up another load of paranoid germ people!

CantFindTheBeat · 26/04/2023 19:16

Isaidmaybeee · 26/04/2023 18:29

@Twiglets1 Is it petty to come home and have to tidy though and it’s with people staying, my mum had made the bed neatly and comes back to it unmade with everything thrown on top of it. The suitcases were thrown around too, it is like they hoovered/mopped messily and just left it all

Why is the bed not made? I would not be happy with that.

What's the usual standard like? If it's a one off, I would just mention it when they came next time. If standards aren't good generally, then maybe reconsider and hire a new firm?

Your dog, though? What do you mean?

Liamgallaghersparka · 26/04/2023 19:17

It looks like they've moved things to mop and forgotten to put them back. If they usually put everything back in their place this was probably an oversight. Either that or floor may have been too wet to put them back.
