Promotion interview

I applied for an internal promotion. Got accepted and invited to an interview with head person and next in chain of command.

At interview, the next two down the chain turn up to conduct the interview. No explanation of why the other two didn't do the interview.

At the end of the interview, one interviewer lets it slip that the head had interviewed all the other applicants. In fact head even rang one of interviewers mid interview about a trivial matter. And head was in today. I saw him.

Feel pretty peed off. I put time and effort in to this. But they obviously couldn't be bothered and just passed it on.

Iabu to feel professionally fucked off / embarrassed?

Hmm sounds dodgy but could it be that the head knows you so felt they knew you could do the job?

Ah... thanks for being nice. But they would have known everybody, some better than me.

About 6 positions going. I reckon they interviewed until they got the 6 and I was the reserve.

Possibly an emergency that they had to deal with instead? That could also explain the phone call.

Where I work you have to be interviewed by the same interview panel for every applicant otherwise it’s seen (quite rightly) as unfair and grounds for a complaint…

Possible that it was an emergency. But no way it would have needed both of them. Also I feel that they would have said if it was an emergency. They had plenty of opportunity to say it.

I don't know and probably will never know what happened. But gut reaction says that I was reserve and they couldn't be arsed.
