This thread wasn't necessary to be honest. Just a bunch of people fighting going back and forth. Find a hobby.

I found it interesting, particularly the issues surrounding the laws on matters.

Don't read if you don't find it interesting 🤷🏻‍♀️

Why bother to comment on here, then?

Maybe people will join this thread,,maybe it will limp to a halt, but either way if you aren't interested, just ignore it.

What an original response from you. I wonder sometimes if that's the only response that you can manage.

Scroll on by if you don't like the topic. It isn't difficult.

Thanks for starting a new thread OP, I am finding the discussion quite interesting.

I do find it absolutely fascinating when someone will go on a post to specifically post how they don't like the content of post! Like they are spending time in their day to point out something that doesn't have any meaning to the topic and its just a waste of time for them but they still feel need to do it! It's like people commenting on celebrities Instagram account abuse at them or saying how they don't like something! Fascinating but bizarre !

Scalottia · 25/04/2023 17:15

Agree @Rainbowsandbutterflies1990 , it baffles me too.

Came to post this:

HangingOver
in theory the bus could become jam packed with large dogs

Oh this would be so lovely

I’d love to see this! I amn’t a huge dog lover, especially since we got one lol, but why shouldn’t someone be able to take their dog eg on the bus if they want to get somewhere further away?

Dogs are used as assistance animals, medical alert animals, etc and aren't easy avoidable in every day life. If somebody has such a severe allergy to dogs that being on a bus with them is difficult, then I wonder how they would fair sitting on a seat previously sat on by somebody covered in dog hair and dander. Personally if I had an allergy like that, I wouldn't be on public transport.

I would pay to see this!!

Brefugee · 25/04/2023 17:57

tbh i think rules should apply: the dog must be on a lead, sit, stand or lie next to the people it's with (or under the table/seat where possible) and be silent. Barking and walking around slobbering on people? out it goes

I also think that children should be quiet and not run around and pester people.

Lockheart · 25/04/2023 18:00

It's quite simple - if someone is allowed to bring their pet dog (or any other pet) into a public space then they can do so, as long as that pet behaves. If someone else has an issue with that, they need to develop ways to deal with it or they need to identify places where pets aren't allowed and go there instead.

It's not about dogs rights vs humans either, as all the dogs will presumably have owners with them.

I agree with all of this!

Thinking about it, I also think that there ought to be some dog-free space in any indoor cafe / restaurant etc above a certain size.

I’d also like to see a ban on any non-assistance dogs in places where food is stored on low shelves (or a ban on unwrapped food if dogs are allowed). There’s a farm shop / cafe near me which is dog-friendly (fine), but they store unwrapped bread and fruit at dog height, which doesn’t seem particularly hygienic.

One of my children would have an allergic reaction travelling on that bus after a horse had been on it....but you know what, the bus saved a horse & people potentially being injured in a traffic accident and therefore was the right thing to do - we'd suck it up and get some piriton into them if we got on the bus after it 🤷‍♀️
As should people with allergies who get on a bus with a cat, dog etc ...or choose to use car or taxi for safety

As a family looking into an assistance dog for a severely disabled child the previous thread was eye-opening!

Lidl have low level shelving with their pastries aswell.
Dogs aren’t allowed in but I did spot a mum taking a pastry off their child and putting it back for someone’s else to take after their kids went exploring.

Im not normally outspoken but I did ask her if she was really going to put it back. 🤢
She did.
Always pick from the back.

I agree about dog free space. It's similar to the days when smoking areas were segregated. If an establishment has the space it's a win win for everyone, surely?

Quveas · 25/04/2023 19:48

It is against the law to exclude my service dog from any public space, and if someone told me to move, I'd tell them to move. If your "allergies" are so bad, then you need to deal with your allergies because any dog, other animal, or person living with one could set them off. It's unreasonable to expect public space to cater to your needs.

I'm allergic to pollen, but I'm not expecting trees or flowers to move...
