How long to heal from extracted tooth?

I have to get a tooth (back molar) removed next week. My first one that I have ever had to get taken out.

I was wondering if anyone had a tooth taken out, how long did it take you to heal?

Ask your dentist. For my first wisdom tooth, one afternoon. For my second and third (together), fine by next day. (Presumably in both cases still some healing to go, but felt fine and could function normally). For the last one, 10 days.

Should have said - the dentist was able to tell me roughly how long to expect for each, which is why you should ask them, as they know how difficult a job it will be. Last one was impacted and needed general anaesthetic; unless yours is a hospital job, it's likely to be at the lower end of the scale.

I have had several teeth removed in the past and am usually quite careful for about a week, Dry socket which you want to avoid usually happens about 2-5 days after extraction.

I just joined a new dentist. He is not very chatty and is very serious . He just said "you need a tooth out, go tell the receptionist I said that. And book in for an extraction"

He didn't tell me any information about it. I'll try and ask him next time when I see him.
