Where do you store your pizza cutter?

I just opened a pizza cutter that I bought on Saturday and omg I never realised they were so sharp! Even while washing it you'd have to be super careful... anyhow where would you suggest I could store it safely with kids in the house, even with ourselves if we opened cutlery drawers quickly to get a potato peeler etc you could easily slice your finger on pizza cutter... it would be handy if there was a cover for it if that exists?

I'm not sure if you can buy a separate cover but I have this style no chance of cutting yourself by accident when it's in the drawer

We have a pot rack/shelf, with a hanging bar and s hooks underneath, it lives there

My pizza cutter has a plastic sleeve that clips over it. It lives in the drawer with the spatulas and wooden spoons and potato masher etc.

Ok thank you for giving me some ideas!

Well I don’t have DCs to worry about but
mine lives in my main utensil drawer on its side. I think that way the blade is large enough to be obvious before you try to grab it.

GrumpyPanda · 25/04/2023 00:17

I use scissors for pizza, but if I ever needed a cutter it would go on the magnetic knife strip.

ComputerWifeKaren · 25/04/2023 00:35

It's really that sharp? Mine are dull as hell. Kept in a drawer next to the oven with the big knives though.

BOYBANDLOVER · 25/04/2023 00:38

mine a bike and the wheels is what cut the pizza.

it goes in the cutlery draw like everything else

LancreWowhawk · 25/04/2023 00:48

I have this one from JosephJoseph:

https://www.robertdyas.co.uk/joseph-joseph-duo-pizza-cutter?cqsrc=googleeads&cqcmp=17679582202&cqqterm=&cqplac=&cqqnet=x&cqplt=gp&gclid=CjwKCAjw0ZiiBhBKEiwA4PT9z5sf7NndRu4XkYG69BwvIMWXwr-q1jSDCncjAKtb29ooTRx43JsmRoCzLQQAvDD_BwE

It has an integral cover, but disassembles easily for cleaning. It seems weird to say I love a pizza cutter, but I really do.

Dahliasrule · 25/04/2023 01:04

DH and I had words about the pizza cutter. He put it, blade up, in the cutlery section of the dishwasher. I just imagined slicing one’s wrist or fingers on it. It is making my toes curl just to think about it.
Once washed, it lives safely inside its cover in the drawer.

Flatandhappy · 25/04/2023 01:19

I have a sharps section in my drawers with scissors etc. Pizza cutter (long, not round) lives at the bottom as it’s the sharpest thing.

I have this one too (although in a different colour) and it's the best pizza cutter I've ever owned. DM had one first and it was only after she bought me mine that I found the rubbery guard part on it though. DM had been keeping hers in the original packaging until I noticed it had the guard.

Tarkan · 25/04/2023 01:28

Oh actually mine is a different JJ one now I see that again. It has a rubbery guard that clips across the top of the handle so it's not super obvious at first unless you read the packaging like I did.

Findyourneutralspace · 25/04/2023 01:32

Ours is in the drawer but yours sounds sharper. It’s funny because my boys were laughing at a pizza cutter being an age restricted item, and the idea someone could use it as a weapon, but it sounds like your probably could!

rattlinoldbones · 25/04/2023 04:56

Cardboard and tape is my standard go-to for making diy blade covers. Cheap and made to measure. Get creative with decoration if you fancy !

CheshireDing · 25/04/2023 05:03

We had this after DH kept putting it with the knives and forks! (Even though I had said it was too sharp and youngest is only 6)

it now lives in the utensil drawers , right at the back , drawer is very shallow so it’s easy to spot

those with guards sound good

Ffsmakeitstop · 25/04/2023 05:16

We have a pretty jug next to the cooker with big utensils in including pizza cutter.

MonumentalLentil · 25/04/2023 05:31

Mine is in the knife drawer with the other knives.

Robyn847 · 25/04/2023 05:38

Don't worry OP, if you eat pizzas at the rate I do it'll be blunt in no time!

Mortimercat · 25/04/2023 05:59

Mine is kept in the large section of the cutlery tray. It cuts pizza very easily, but it is not particularly sharp, definitely no more of a danger than any of the knives in the drawer.

PinkButtercups · 25/04/2023 06:29

In the cutlery draw.

AllIeveknewonlyou · 25/04/2023 06:40

If it really is that sharp you could put it in a cupboard. Obviously so that you could take it out handle first!

TwoShades1 · 25/04/2023 06:45

I’m amazed at these sharp pizza cutters! Mine wasn’t any sharper than a butter knife so I didn’t bother replacing it when it broke. Feel like I’m missing out now!

SquigglePigs · 25/04/2023 06:46

I have a small basket that lives in a high cupboard that has a few sharp things that (a mandolin etc) in it.

moonspiral · 25/04/2023 06:46

Niche question - like it though. Ours lives in the CAREFUL section of the cutlery draw
