Text message or WhatsApp?

I’ll admit I’m socially inept.

DD has a party invite from school, with a mobile number to RSVP to.
Do I send a text message, or WhatsApp?
What’s the done thing?

Texts are useless for people with limited mobile signal so I always prefer to use Whatsapp that works better on wifi.

@TrueScrumptious well you go for it but there's no way I'd ring a stranger to have a chat about a party my kids were invited to when a simple "thanks for inviting X, he would love to come" would work in a message.

they could be doing anything and if it was a big party where every parent called to confirm, they'd waste a lot of time.

Each to their own though.

This is how I was feeling, but then I didn’t know if texting was very kinda old-fashioned, because I haven’t texted anybody in ages!

I'd text, everyone has text on their phone.
Not everyone will have WhatsApp.

I'd WhatsApp. That way you know she's got your reply

If they haven't got WhatsApp, their name and picture won't come up on the app when you type their name in.

I use WhatsApp a lit for friends and family but it wouldn't even occur to me to WhatsApp someone I don't really know. Not everyone has WhatsApp for starters.
I always text and say " Hi, thanks for the invite to Child's party, Elmo Jr would love to come. Thanks Elmo, Elmo Jr's Mum"

This just made me check and I haven't sent or received an actual text since 20/10/22 and that was a one off. So I would WhatsApp 😂
