Should i bother the doctor?

Had a sudden onset stomach ache last night above belly button, after a couple of hours i started being sick and had a fever. As this morning progressed i've not been sick and the pain has moved to my lower right side, like a stabbing tight pain. I did the daft thing and googled and it said possible appendicitis. I don't want to bother the already busy doctors if it's nothing but obviously if it was that then it can't be left. What should i do?

Ring 111

If it's persistent pain take some pain relief and then go to a local walk in centre for assessment

If there's no WIC then A&E if the pain is severe not settling. Or 111 to ask for OOGP appointment. Unless the pain has completely settled 111 will not be able to give you any reassurance over the phone that you are fine and don't need to be seen. So it's just a case of working out the most efficient way to be seen.

Find Walk-in centre services

It does sound like classic symptoms for appendicitis. I would definitely see GP asap.

popgoesperfection · 24/04/2023 17:58

update: rang out of hours, they asked me to describe my symptoms and have sent me to a+e.

Straight to a&e no one would be able to rule out appendicitis other than a&e

RandomMess · 24/04/2023 18:01

Glad you called!

nocoolnamesleft · 24/04/2023 18:12

Glad to hear you've gone to A&E, as appendicitis definitely needs ruling out.

shellyleppard · 24/04/2023 20:04

Did you have it removed? How are you feeling?

popgoesperfection · 25/04/2023 22:39

yeah i've had it removed, feeling a little tender where the incisions were made but no pain like the appendicitis.

DC2 was sent home with a supposed UTI (second bout of suspected appendicitis). We were back less than 12 hours later for an urgent appendectomy.
I'm glad you were treated quickly. Wishing you a speedy recovery.
