There are so many threads now where the OP either never replies or replies once to lots of input. I have recently started to check ‘see all posts’ by the OP before reading on. I find it odd that someone starts an online discussion, where a number of people have taken the time to write a response, never to be seen again.

Anyone else ever wonder why it hapoens?

I think its when the responses immediately don't go their way they just get off 🤣

A lot of them are thread-starters posted for screenshots, especially the ones on the more contentious subjects.

Yeah lots recently I am doing the same. They don't put enough information for us to help get asked loads of questions and never bother to return. Rude and timewasting.

I think somewhere there is a competition for the number of replies and how wound up everyone gets. Usually the op has never posted before.

If it doesn't say "see next" I don't even bother doing that as there aren't any other posts.

Yeah, I wonder this too. Like the girl who started a thread a few weeks ago and her friends didn’t turn up to her house one night for drinks and she was so upset and there was so many replies supporting her but she never returned. I think it’s still active 🤣🤣

I’m glad its not only me who finds it odd.

Might also be overwhelm. Post something you’re unsure about (hence approaching a forum of strangers) and get piles of replies, half of them arguing with each other and sidetracking the original point- it’s overwhelming and people run away?

I do the same as SoupDragon unless it's a very new thread.

Sometimes people can't get back to their thread for hours, sometimes they don't like the replies, sometimes they change their minds or are recognised or find out they were at fault the entire time or who knows.

Yeah if no see all I tend to only read a few of the replies or just close it..depends.

@Fromage yes, its reasonable not to reply when its very recent. But I also wonder when there is just an opening post, why there are so many responses even after its fairly obvious the OP isn’t coming back.
