Going to work sick?

To preface, my husband and I don't argue much but this morning we got into a real stinker.

We've all (baby, he and I) have all had a horrible stomache bug over the weekend. Mostly cleared up by yesterday morning, but husband was a bit behind us and still running to bathroom a few times.

He usually works from home, but had arranged to meet his 8mo pregnant colleague in the office today (she's travelling in from an hour away). I said he shouldn't go in whether she's traveling or not, and if I were her I'd be more pissed off he gave me a stomache bug than cancelled last minute. He's so scared of making mistakes or 'getting in trouble at work' and has gone anyway and won't tell her. AIBU to have told him he's being selfish??

I also don't think he should have gone into work with a stomach bug which he could give to others he comes near to, whether they are healthy, have compromised health issues or, in his colleague's case, pregnant.

I really hope all goes well but he really should have erred on the side of caution and had his meeting via video call, teams, etc to protect everyone including himself. 🌹

I agree. I don’t think he should have gone in.

I have always been a bit Hmm at people coming in to work when ill but even more so now, when there are so many more options to WFH. I think if you're ill and you can WFH, it's mad to go in to work.

Obviously not every job can be done from home, plus many employers put pressure on people to go in no matter what. DH is a postie and his delivery partner is a single dad. He and his child had been ill with D&V but he was pressured by management to go back early. Shortly after, DH was down for three days with a D&V bug, which I also caught even though I disinfected everything and scrubbed my hands raw. When he went back to work, his partner admitted that two other colleagues had caught it, plus his mother, and a few children at his kid's school Angry
