Im a regular browser of Facebook Market place. More recently been buying some ikea bits as having a change. Keep seeing these types of listings? Different people standing in mirrors??
some children? I messaged just to see what response I got and didn’t get a message back. Is it a scam or does anyone know what it’s about?

I've seen loads of these! One young lad had his top off in thr reflection, weird vibes.

purplecorkheart · 23/04/2023 13:26

Hard to photograph a mirror and not appear in it. Most people probably don't want the hassle of setting up stands for their camera etc

Some sort of drug thing? My teenagers tell me that ALL Facebook sales are actually for drugs or prostitution

Jeeze. Like it's code?

BirdChirp · 23/04/2023 13:28

They are pretty odd as some of the people aren't actually taking the photo, so easy enough to get them out of shot. Wording might be the same as someone used it once then Facebook Marketplace suggests it as it's the same kind of wardrobe.

Must change my username to scarface in that case as I sell stuff through Facebook all the time...

mrsfennel · 23/04/2023 14:04

Ive seen the ones with brand new sofas really cheap and the poster is often abroad in Pakistan, that must be a scam.
But those mirror ones look really weird....

Brieandme · 23/04/2023 14:34

If it's the same text but lots of apparently unrelated photos, it's likely that a scammer has nicked these photos from other ads. Free is to get attention, there'll be delivery costs or a refundable deposit and then you're ghosted - they don't have the item.

🤣 I think your teenagers either have wild imaginations, or are having you on.

ShinyPikachu · 23/04/2023 15:11

It's actually a "thing" now and again on here, other sites and social media to find random local mirrors for sale and the odd reflections of people in them and post screenshots of ones you find. So maybe some of them are just wanting to end up on one of those threads (I haven't seen one in ages now I think about it though!)

There is facebook group "people selling mirrors" and it's hilarious

HappiDaze · 23/04/2023 16:25

It is a bit creepy isn't it now you come to mention it

Especially the ones where they're not actually holding a camera.
