I went to new hairdressers yesterday and had root smudge and few nightlights ( I normally have all over highlights) and I hate my hair it just looks blocky and awful is this what a root smudge should look like? I hate it 😭

How can I make this any better :(

It isn't well done, it should fade out more, at different lengths. As you say, it's blocky.

There's a definite line, as well.

Go back. Complain. Get someone senior to fix it.

MeMyCatsAndMyBooks · 22/04/2023 08:05

I would be asking for a refund so you can get it corrected at another salon, it's really blocky.

LadyBiker · 22/04/2023 08:05

I would go back and request a different stylist fixes it.

Or what @MeMyCatsAndMyBooks said.

I hate having to complain but I'm so upset with it 😭 so will have to ring up today and see what they can do

No you shouldn’t have a definite line. Complain

Greenfairydust · 22/04/2023 08:26

Go back, complain and ask for another stylist to fix it.

It looks very geometrical and unflattering.

I think the salon owner will want to hear/see that the staff is not doing their job.

I would actually go there rather than ring if you can so they can look at the evidence.

They've done an extremely poor job, it is very blocky. Absolutely complain and get them to sort it. Having your hair done is expensive and you deserve to be happy with the outcome. Something similar happened to me when I had my hair colored auburn. The roots were so blocky and like you I hate complaining but it cost me a fortune so I just messaged them saying I just realised when I got home that it's quite blocky and sent them photos and they offered for me to come back to sort it which I did but it was still blocky therefore I put a box dye over it myself and it was a million times better, I'm not suggesting you do the same and put a box dye over but absolutely get in touch with them and I'm sure they'll be happy for you to come back and for them to sort it free of charge. Any decent hairdresser would.
