Facebook Friend Suggestions

I logged into Facebook today and got a shock. A man, who around 15 years ago, had stalked me has appeared in my friends suggestions. I had previously blocked him so not sure why he was t anymore - I have re blocked him again obviously.

Anyway I'm worried about why he appeared. We have no friends in common, he doesn't know my mobile number, we don't live nearby. I'm worried this means he's been looking at my profile and this is why he appears. Facebook denies this can happen but it seems odd and I'm unsettled. AIBU to think this is why he appeared?

I think it can, and does, happen. I have two fb accounts. I searched one with the other, and I then came up as a friend suggestion.

Yes it definitely happens. There's been a thread on this before and there are many cases of it happening. Facebook are liars.

Check your Instagram and anything else owned by meta they are all linked

Also my ex masquerades as a Hispanic blonde called angel unfortunately (for him) I'm neglectful deleting his old numbers off my phone so it still comes up as his name just the angel profile it's bizarre "x from your contacts" and there he/she is

I've been going to counselling recently. I rang a practice with several practitioners and they set me up an appointment. I never googled my counsellor or looked her up on Facebook, but she WhatsApped me a few times. She came up as a Facebook friend suggestion for me after that. I don't trust Facebook at all.

Instagram is the same... suggested accounts, people I have had on my phone contacts at one point many moons ago but have no desire or interest to reconnect with them.. especially as they are usually no longer contacts.

oh heck it does happen. Search someone up on Facebook and FB thinks you have a connection, you will likely be recommended to them

You can report them to FB - if they are satisfied they will take the offending account down.

Oh god I must check Instagram. He appeared as a profile viewer on LinkedIn too. Why can't he just leave me alone after all this time. I hate Facebook now, no sleep ahead for me tonight.

A web developer at work once told me that if you search for someone three times, you show up in their suggestions

Yes it happened recently on Instagram to me. Someone who had been looking at my account suggested as a friend. Block on all social media. Do you still have the same phone number? You might need to block on WhatsApp too if he has your number.

I've also found that if you have been in a similar place to people they show on your suggestions.

He's definitely not got my number as I changed it, and I'm now in a different country so unlikely to be location services, I don't think at least.
