To ask if this service exists?

I'm looking for wardrobes and bookshelves, quite big, and a storage coffee table that becomes a desk too.

Everything seems to be self assembly. I have bought a tiny tiny flat so even the floor space for initial assembly might be a challenge.

I'm wondering if the following service exists

A company who will collect the items from somewhere like Ikea, bring a two person team to the flat and assemble all on the same day. Based just outside London, in Essex/East London border.

So far, I can see lots of people who charge about £50 per hour for assembling furniture as a one man band, this will need two, I think.

I'm not keen to have the items delivered in advance as they'd then be hanging around a very small flat. If I'm not in for delivery, I'm worried they'll leave them somewhere that I can't move them.

I am prepared to pay for such a service but I can't find one that will collect the items. I imagine you'd need a ute type van to collect it?

I'm not physically able to help in any way. I don't have any friends who can help with this.

Thanks in advance if anyone has recommendations.

I thought Ikea offer an assembly service, as well as delivery. Phone and ask.

Wowz · 18/04/2023 22:56

I'm pretty sure ikea does delivery and offers an assembly service

They do have an assembly service but it's separate to delivery.

This is why I shop in independent stores, i
most of them include free assembly

Task Rabbit.

Again, no collecting and bringing it, at least not that I can find.

re independent shops, that was an experience! Two of them said they could deliver if there was someone else to help. One lady kept a rising tone of horror, practically yelling "no husband? What do you mean, NO HUSBAND? But you have bought house!" I didn't bother explaining it was a tiny flat.

the other one, a bloke, just said "sorry, no can do, can't shift it upstairs" which is fair enough. But then he turned away and went back to his phone.

also, neither had those great storage coffee tables that transform into a desk, that's going to be great.

anyway...I will keep looking.

Gumtree, maybe. If you don't see anything suitable, you can ask instead.

i would put up a note on my local facebook group for someone to do this.

Why don't you post on a local area forum to see if a handyman can collect and put together.
