Cleaner left 40 minutes early because I wasn't home

Our cleaner only did 1 hour and 20 minutes when I pay her for 2 hours. She doesn't realise I have a ring doorbell and majority of the time I'm working from home so I know when she arrives and leaves. However, I'm away for work and she is aware of that. I caught her arriving at 11:33 and leaving at 12:53. I'm obviously really pissed off about it. Do I mention it to her and let her know I can see her or just send her half of the money? She left 40 minutes early.

Can't for the life of me see why this thread has been resuscitated.

People, the cleaner was fired weeks ago.

Hopefully the OP has found a decent replacement by now.

Some bullshit here, and from interested parties. You either book 2 hours, or you book "job and finish". Some people on the latter will skimp and go early. That's a fact.

The only fair arrangement is one where the deal is clearly laid out. It seems to me if you book 2 hours, you should get it. There are always things to do-unless you agreed otherwise. This especially applies now that cleaner are so expensive, often charging up to £20 an hour. Charge what you want, and can get, but don't then expect to cut corners in terms of time.

yes she should meaninglessly clean the toilet with a toothbrush to the dot of the hour?Thats just moralistic . OP says she’s a good cleaner. She sounds efficient and experienced. Anyone can fill their hours meaninglessly but isn’t the quality of the job more important than the time taken? Has OP checked whether she sometimes works over? A well executed task is not focussed on the amount of time it takes. It’s quality not quantity. And does OP pay her an especially generous fee? No info of this kind. Hope cleaner hands in her notice. Good luck with finding the high standard required plus strict time keeper OP.

@mustgetoffmn Are you on glue? You sound utterly unhinged and nasty.

I still want to know was the house clean to the usual standard @Scarletthoo2

Would have known she missed 40m/left early

Or all looked ok

No it wasn't. There was dust still on the skirting boards and cobwebs all over the ceiling according to my OH. She hasn't been sorely missed lol.
