To be sixk of Rishi Sunak and his money making

Haven't Sunak and his wife got enough money without trying to rake in even more more by his wife investing in some child education scheme which benefits from the recent budget. He is now to be investigated for not declaring it what greed. Makes me sick. What is the matter with these people and obsession with wanting even more money to add to the billions they have already got,

Me. He's just a Tory being a Tory. What's new?

If people keep voting them in, they will keep doing what they do.

underneaththeash · 18/04/2023 14:47

I know, fancy people actually making money rather than living off benefits.

Elvira2000 · 18/04/2023 14:54

Who cares about how much money ex-PMs have made AFTER leaving office.

Making money DURING their time in office and not declaring conflicts of interest is a very big deal.

I think he is a good, efficient PM, he has made his money, so has his wife’s family. Rather him than the awful Starmer who will not say what a woman is, who is also pretty wealthy

You're deluded. The man is incompetent. He was in control of the nation's finances when he spunked tens of billions on bounce back loans handed out freely to businesses that didn't need it and to fraudsters claiming to be in business who weren't. He also presided over the disastrous covid support schemes which left a whopping 3 MILLION people (10% of the workforce) excluded from covid support on spurious/nonsensical grounds. The fact he has been "promoted" despite his incompetence as Chancellor is a national disgrace.

There's a strong suggestion that "some" ministers get rewarded by highly paid "consulting" jobs after they've left office as a promise in return for decisions they made which benefitted their new "employer" during their term in office!

"She is invested in Koru kids.
It will barely benefit from the funding that is going to cripple most nurseries and childminders!"

That's because you don't understand it.

These are the childminder agencies that Liz Truss dreamed up in 2011. They were very unpopular. Most childminders wanted to stay independent and didn't see why they should work to line the pockets of entrepreneurs, most of whom did not know the childminding sector. Nor did they see why their hard won grades should be lost and their reputations dependent on the agency grade, not their own.

The budget announcement was designed to encourage new childminders to sign up to the agencies, not to Ofsted. It would ensure that eventually most childminders would no longer be independent. One agency I'm aware of charges 10% of a childminder's earnings, so that would increase costs for parents. It would also increase the profits of the agencies.

The issue is not that Mrs. Sunak invested in Koru Kids; it's that Mr. Sunak failed to declare the interest.
It also raises questions over the integrity of a Government that refuses to increase the 30 hour funding if family members are invested in organisations that will put their competitors out of business.

Well I don't begrudge Rishi and his wife making investments. They have a duty to their successors to invest well to preserve and grow the wealth they have earned and themselves inherited.

So the end justifies the means ?

What means? By all accounts he registered his wife's interest to a similarly named but incorrect committee. I am all for finding and punishing corruption, but I don't see any here.

I think there is an issue if you have the power, means and the will to bomb the shit out of a country and remove the leader to the benefit of a neighbouring country which then pays your business company millions of pounds...

Nightlystroll · 18/04/2023 15:39

But is it true that he didn't declare an interest? Are you sure you have the full facts?

NamelessNancy · 18/04/2023 16:00

We should be delighted that the upper echelons are doing so well. Only a matter of time before it trickles down to the rest of us, I can't wait!

Seriously though I think whilst people continue to swallow the "all politicians..." and whataboutery they can essentially do whatever the hell they like and they know it.

here he is the pwinceling himself, wriggling and squirming on the hook

He's not wriggling and squirming at the relevant bit though - he laughs in a manner that suggests he hasn't a clue what the Labour MP is getting at. That's my interpretation.

So he’s not very bright then. It was as plain as the nose on your face what she meant. She eviscerated him.

Starmer is a professional who was promoted to the highest possible rank in his profession

They all make mistakes;
August 2022
Keir Starmer has been found to have breached the MPs’ code of conduct by failing to register on time eight interests, including gifts from football teams and the sale of a plot of land.
An inquiry into the Labour leader was opened in June by the parliamentary standards commissioner, Kathryn Stone, relating to claims about late declaration of earnings and gifts, benefits or hospitality from UK sources.

Speaking at the time, Starmer said he was “absolutely confident” he had not broken the MPs’ code of conduct.
The commissioner has now found that leader of the opposition failed to register eight interests – five more than alleged in the original complaint.

No hindsight needed. I knew what she meant immediately the first time I watched it. She was very clear.

I wonder why Starmer was so convinced he hadn't messed up? Is he 'thick' as well?

Why have you written “thick”? If you think you’re quoting me, you’re wrong. It’s a word I never, ever use in relation to intelligence, it’s a pet hate of mine.

And here we go again “Yes, but Starmer …”. It really is getting desperate over there, isn’t it?
