Posting shamelessly for traffic

I have ADHD and I have over researched and can't make a decision

Can anyone recommend an Airbnb or holiday cottage in Devon? We have a 6 and 2 year old just the 4 of us going. Budget of £1500 for a week in August. Anyone been to any they can recommend? Thanks

The exact dates will be needed by the holiday mavens.

Have you looked at Ruda holiday park in Croyde?

DumbPrinceAndHisStupidWife · 16/04/2023 12:20

Have a look at coast and country cottages.

I've stayed here before and it was lovely. Comfortable, clean, and well located for lots of nice beaches and other attractions nearby.

This looks good and under budget:

Kingsbridge is a nice little town, really close to Salcombe. When we stayed there we went to the beaches at Bigbury and Bantham quite a lot. I love South Devon, so much to do.

Woodovis Park near Tavistock is lovely - quiet, safe for kids and has a free pool you can use as much as you want. They do evening bits like a storyteller, circus skills, hog roast and a gin van. It's primarily a campsite but does have a holiday cottage and static caravans.

Ruda holiday park is lovely. We've been loads over the years and going back again in August.

Thanks will check all these out. Anymore suggestions welcome. Definitely open to a hot tub too even though Mumsnet hate them.

I can’t actually recommend it personally as I haven’t been yet, but we booked Braddicks at Westward Ho! after a local friend recommended it. It has various caravans/flats and is walking distance into the town

Createausername1970 · 16/04/2023 21:57

Went to a park in Paignton a couple of years ago. Small, private run, so not too overwheming. Beverley Holidays, I think they were called. We had a caravan with its own hot tub.

Bradocks at Westward Ho! Is great. Westward Ho! Is a beautiful location with an amazing beach. Ruda at Croyde is lovely too. Kingsbridge is really lovely. If you’re into camping The River Dart County Park and Woodlands are brilliant. Bideford Bay holiday park is lovely. There are fantastic sites in Woolacombe. Good luck.

Mrscaptainraymondholt · 16/04/2023 22:52

Ladram Bay is amazing and great for kids and is a family owned site rather than a big name.. it’s near Budleigh Salterton and just off of Otterton in East Devon - see photo - it has its own beach and is very safe

second what people are saying re Ruda too

Thanks everyone. I've found a potential place near a village called Milverton. Seems like it's mid Devon- does anyone know if this area is good for tourists?

I've never heard of it. Oh it's in Somerset not Devon. Personally I'd give it a big miss, it looks like it's miles and miles away from the coast. Miles away from anything really. It's not that far from Exmoor but IMO Dartmoor is a thousand times better and more interesting/fun than Exmoor.

Surely you want to be on the coast? around Woolacombe is lovely in north Devon (give Ilfracombe a wide birth though, it's a dive with no decent beach - well no real beach at all.) In South Devon I'd go Bigbury/Bantham way. Paignton/Torquay way is a bit of a depressing tacky dump now IMO.

Thank you. It says Devon, didn't realise it was actually Somerset. I was intending originally to avoid holiday parks right on the coast and have a bit more private space. But you're right we would rather be near the beaches. Just need the right property.
