Had a very vivid dream on Wednesday, these do happen occasionally .
In the dream, an old lady was chasing me nd I hid in the toilet. She opened the door and had a huge knife in her hand. In my attempt to ward her off and slammed my right foot against the door and screamed.
At this point,I woke everyone else and myself up screaming. There isn't a foot board, I was kicking into the air.
I can now barely put right foot down as it is so painful to the touch!!
How? Why?
Have you ever had a physical effect from something that happened in a dream?

You’ve just pulled a muscle from thrashing around while lying down.

DH has all kinds of mad dreams and he’s forever running, flailing and kicking in his sleep. I don’t think it’s that unusual.

Nimbostratus100 · 16/04/2023 10:21

you just banged your foot, and incorporated the sensation into your dream

Saltired · 16/04/2023 10:21

I find that dreams normally happen to make sense of physical symptoms rather than the other way around. I bet you had a sore foot and then dreamed up the sore foot causing scenario.

CharlotteStreetW1 · 16/04/2023 10:23

One of DH's cricketing mates knackered his knee "turning for a second run" in a dream 😁

I don't think.so, just been off work for a few days so had been relaxing.
I do occasionally have incredibly vivid dreams where it ta a few seconds to realise that it hasn't really happened.

I think you possibly hurt your foot and then started dreaming about foot pain. This is not uncommon.

DH acts out his dreams all the time. He has broken my nose and given me a black eye before.

Coolhwip · 16/04/2023 10:46

YANBU OP, I still get night terrors and sleep walk. It could be psychosomatic.

Have a warm foot bath and lightly massage the foot.

MrsDoylesDoily · 16/04/2023 10:55

Your foot was hurting and then your dreamed around it.

It happens.

'In the dream, an old lady was chasing me and I hid in the toilet. She opened the door and had a huge knife in her hand.'

I frequently have this dream and the 'old lady' is usually Penny Mordaunt or, sometimes, Liz Truss. 😱

Mine was an old lady actress from the carry on films.

I cant remember what the dream was but I was scared and running away in it. When I woke up/half woke up, I jumped up out of the bed in fear ,my right leg was completely numb so I just hit the deck. Had a swollen and bruised ankle for a few days.

Hope you feel better soon.

So what do you think caused it? Freddie Kruger isn’t real, nothing in your dreams can do you physical harm.

CharlotteStreetW1 · 16/04/2023 14:41

Or...

You've coincidentally woken up with plantar fasciitis which is most painful first thing when you get up.
