I've been feeling very sick for past few days. Yesterday woke up with violent headache and vomiting. Today I have lost the hearing in my right ear. Totally deaf in that ear. Would I be ok leaving Contacting doctors till Monday. I'm in Scotland. Feeling very tired sick and dizzy. Thank you.

Yes. You need to get treatment fast, within 48 hours if possible.

endofthelinefinally · 15/04/2023 17:07

You need to seek medical advice now. Don't leave it till Monday. I don't know what your equivalent of 111 is in Scotland, but you need to speak to them asap.

JustDanceAddict · 15/04/2023 17:10

No, you need to go to a&e.

Wc100423 · 15/04/2023 17:12

A&E hope you get it sorted.

Please go now, DH lost his hearing in one ear out of the blue, probably due to an untreated ear infection.

Come back and tell us how you get on.

Good luck

elevenplusdilemma · 15/04/2023 17:38

You absolutely need to seek urgent medical attention. If left untreated too long, the damage could be permanent. Pack a bag with essentials (snacks, drinks, basic toiletries, charger for phone) and get to A&E.

Abhannmor · 15/04/2023 17:44

Good luck. I had sudden deafness in one ear. Probably a virus in the labyrinth. But I had a precautionary head scan. Earlier you see a specialist the better!

lemonsaretheonlyfruit · 15/04/2023 17:47

I have had this. Sounds like this

It's awful and very debilitating. If it is that then they can give you some pills to stop the dizziness.

I would also google / ask about Vertigo. They are v similar feelings and both can include hearing loss.

A and E and hopefully you have listened to others and are already there

FourBoysAndAFeline · 15/04/2023 19:10

Given the sudden violent headache and vomiting I'd be inclined to get it checked today.

Isnt a "thunderclap headache" supposed to be considered a potential emergency?

OliveToboogie · 15/04/2023 20:30

Came to A and E 6 hour waiting time but got to be done. They think it might be virus x

@OliveToboogie How are you now?

Abhannmor · 19/04/2023 10:42

Any diagnosis? Hope you are feeling better @OliveToboogie

undergroundstation · 19/04/2023 10:44

friend was told his (now permanent) hearing loss in similar circs cd poss have been
reversed through use of steroids so do ask about that.

MontyDonsBlueScarf · 19/04/2023 11:30

I had similar about 50 years ago and permanently lost my hearing as a result. I was told that there was a possibility that that might have been avoided if it had been treated within a very short time. Please do whatever it takes to get seen by a specialist asap.

Hopefully things will have improved in the last 50 years, but back then I had several investigations before I finally saw a specialist who said they might have been able to help if they'd seen me immediately. None of the several doctors I had already seen seemed aware of this.

OliveToboogie · 19/04/2023 14:15

Sorry took so long to reply. Just busy. Was an ear infection so anti biotics. Thank you for all the kind words. X
