I’ve worked in shit jobs my whole life. Mixture of lack of opportunities and low self-confidence.

I’ve been a SAHM. It was my dream. I had many lovely moments, but I’m not cut out for it. I shouted at my kids far too often and felt trapped. Completely admire women that can make it work, but it wasn’t for me.

When my youngest was 3, I got asked to do a job. Something I have thought about doing but didn’t think I could. After much persuasion I said yes.

And I love it. Really, really love it. I was always someone that worked to live, and could not remotely understand that anyone could live to work. Now I do.

I am so happy that I took the opportunity, and I feel like I am thriving. And I have a lot more patience with my kids too!

What has made you happy recently?

Fabulous! Lovely to hear. What’s the job?

Watchingtheworldgopast · 14/04/2023 20:55

Well done to you 👏 you should be proud.

That’s amazing! It took me a long time to find a place where I was happy to go to work. Being unhappy at work is so draining mentally and physically and just destroys you. I’m so pleased to hear of someone who has truly found a place where they’re happy to go each day!

Good for you! You make sure you share and celebrate your new happiness!

How fabulous! Glad you've found something you love. I'm sure you'll be a brilliant role model to your children.

That's such good news OP and a great idea for a thread.

Hearing that Sarah Beeny has the all clear from cancer made me very happy today.

That's so lovely. Well done, OP.

I got ready to meet a friend and came downstairs wearing a dress. I wasn't feeling 100% comfortable due to still carrying baby weight from my youngest. My eldest (he's almost 7) saw me and said "wow, mum - you look great!"

He's my biggest fan and is always trying to build me up.

That’s lovely OP. The story of that 5 year old from London who called 999 for her mum and got to go and look around the ambulance service headquarters and commended, that made me happy!

How lovely of your boy. Kids are so genuine too so it’ll have come from the heart.

I'm Diabetic (Type 1) and wear a pump, I've always been honest with my daughter about what it is when she's questioned it and why I need it, but put it in the easiest terms so she understands, she's 4 now. Basically, mummy doesn't always feel well, so this makes me feel better, I've told her about my "poorly sweets" and why I need them sometimes. She saw a bag of my sweets on the side and brought them to me, I thought she wanted one, and as she'd been really helpful with me (has an obsession with hoovering at the minute) I asked if she wanted one, she said "No, they're your poorly sweets, you need one" I was sat down at the time, when I'm low, I always sit myself down so I'm not in danger of passing out and falling over. She noticed I was sat down and thought I needed one. I told her I was OK, and then she started asking about my pump out of the blue, is it a needle??, does it hurt??. It just made me happy that she (even at her 4 year old age) she was asking about me, and genuinely was interested (for as long as 4 year old can be, lol) she got one of my sweeties x
