Chicken nuggets, they are amazing! Washing liquid, loo rolls, dishwasher tablets

InsertSomethingMotivationalHere · 13/04/2023 07:14

We buy without fail:
A pack of toilet roll - it's got about 9 packs of 6 in it or so.
Diet cokes
Unstoppables
A case of 19 crimes
Freezer bits
It's usually good value although as we go around I'm constantly calculating in my head to compare against supermarket prices.

zizza · 13/04/2023 07:19

The chicken nuggets are tasty but I worry about where they come from!

We get Pepsi Max, Tropicana OJ, Kirkland loo rolls & kitchen towel, tinned toms & sweetcorn & chickpeas & coconut milk, dried pasta, passata, tissues, big bags of crisps, croissants. Other stuff too but need to be careful about prices - not always cheaper. Their meat is great quality but not cheap necessarily. Cakes/pastries are good but large (and I don't like the American style icing on some!)

Rainbowsandbutterflies1990 · 13/04/2023 07:23

Pistachio cream , I find a lot of the stuff more expensive than supermarkets as I'm checking while I go around so don't really find it cheaper apart from mentioned above. And that is amazing especially in Croissants

matisses6fingers · 13/04/2023 07:26

Remember my Costco mantra: it’s only a bargain if you need it.

Popetthetreehugger · 13/04/2023 07:27

Petrol ⛽️ big trays of danish pastry, for freezer, and remember that the on line shop is a different set up to actual shop , actual shop can be cheaper!

Some of the clothes are very good value.
I got some Levi Jeans for £29.99 rather than £99 in the shop.

LittleFriendSusan · 13/04/2023 07:42

Staples for us are toilet roll, kitchen roll, dishwasher tablets, rinse aid, part-baked bread, the naan/ flatbread things, tortilla wraps, halloumi, greek yoghurt, lactofree & oat milk, big tubs of roasted salted nuts (not cheap by any means but so much nicer than the standard supermarket mixes), olive oil, tinned fish. Sensodyne / Colgate sensitive toothpaste cheaper than anywhere else I've seen & the big tubs of vitamins are good value.

Pastries are good & also meat / fish. We tend to pick up a pack of frozen samosas or similar but can't fit more in the freezer - if we had a chest freezer I'd probably stock up! Trays of sushi are great. Not keen on the cakes personally, but I know lots of others love them.

Fruit & veg is generally good quality but big pack sizes and again not particularly cheap. I tend to buy oranges, sweet potatoes & sometimes cherry tomatoes.

Great bargains on electricals if you need anything - my blender, air fryer, shower & cordless vacuum all came from there. Got my eye on a stand mixer next.

LittleFriendSusan · 13/04/2023 07:45

And yes to the clothing - I've bought that sports leggings, joggers & sweatshirts & sheepskin boot things, in fact a lot of my wfh wardrobe is from there! DP has had Levi's & a few hoodies/ fleeces for work.

LittleFriendSusan · 13/04/2023 07:45

Ignore the random 'that' in my post...

BellaJuno · 13/04/2023 07:47

I like the frozen pasta you warm up on the hob, great for a quick dinner and really tasty.

CentrifugalBumblePuppy · 13/04/2023 08:00

Our staples are Kirkland bog roll, Kirkland kitchen roll, Autarky or Harrington’s dry dog food (Harrington’s looks higher priced than Sainsbury’s, but it’s 18kg rather than 15kg in supermarkets), Gusto latte macchiato pods, onions - they’re small, but they’ll blow your head off lol - garlic, Perle cat sachets and DH loves the Butcher’s Hook sausages which are huge 1 is easily a portion! Also large blocks of cheese.

As lots of stuff is brand named, so they do work out more expensive than the supermarket own brands.

The giant tubs of Kirkland non bio washing powder is good and doesn’t trigger my daughter’s eczema and last us up to 6 months.

Around Christmas, their fruit topped fruit cake is awesome.

Their sushi is pretty good value, we’ll often buy a range & it works out much cheaper than a usual pay day takeaway. The vegetables sushi is good too.

DH loves the 2 packs for £7.99 giant muffins too. We freeze a few for puddings.

I have a vacuum packer so I do buy larger meat packs & divide & freeze, but again, watch the pricing; supermarkets are generally cheaper on meat, but Costco beef is some of the best I’ve bought (and comparable to good butchers cost wise).

Have fun!

CentrifugalBumblePuppy · 13/04/2023 08:03

Just to add - fuel. We save around £10-15 per tank on petrol.

Undertheoldlindentree · 13/04/2023 08:04

Large blocks Anchor butter. Work out at £1.75 for 250g. Family fresh chicken Katsu 'fakeaway' is about £8. Occasional bargains in biscuits, peanut butter, coffee, juice etc. But most items either expensive (but maybe higher quality than supermarkets or pack sizes too big to take a risk on. I've tried Costco for a year, but won't be renewing. Good for big families or catering for an event.

Best thing is fuel, consistently a few pence cheaper than local supermarkets. Fill up!

RampantIvy · 13/04/2023 08:07

I don't understand the love for their very artificial sickly sweet cakes. They aren't amazing at all, and I wouldn't insult any of my friends by serving up one of these nasty tasting confections.

Climbingthelaundrymountain · 13/04/2023 08:08

Mac and cheese croquettes
Peanut butter
Nutella
Kimchi noodles
Cereal
Cereal bars
Rotisserie chicken
Victoria sponges with fresh cream
Mozzarella sticks

Macaroni cheese
loo roll

IhavethisthingwhereIgetolderbutjustneverwiser · 13/04/2023 08:13

I had no idea you could buy fuel at costco! Certainly not obvious at my local one in any case, I'll have to check it out next time I go!

TheGuv1982 · 13/04/2023 08:20

Our staple purchases are normally:
Big pack of Pepsi, Pepsi max and water
tin foil trays with lids (great for barbecue food storage)
pack of macaroons
charcoal (the saving on this pretty much pays for my membership)
various toiletries

Then it’s a case of grabbing whatever else we need/like the look of.
