First time visit to Costco today, what shall I buy?

That’s £10-15 over a month on several fill ups, we don’t drive a juggernaut 😂.

Just to add - fuel. We save around £10-15 per tank on petrol.

I find this hard to believe unless you're filling up a lorry.

Difference between costco and your average garage is around 5 pence now, not the 20 odd pence it was 6-12 months ago. To save £10 you'd need to buy 200 litres of fuel.

Plus one for Costco fuel though, I wouldn't go out of my way to fill up there as it'd cancel out the saving most likely in fuel used.

Their profiterole puddings, there's a gorgeous chocolate mousse type thing with a big heap of profiteroles on top.

San Pellegrino fizzy water

Japanese rice crackers

Frozen chicken nuggets/breadcrumbed prawns

Serrano ham/salami

Slice pizza/hot dog to celebrate finishing the shop

foreverbasil · 13/04/2023 08:39

Not the cakes! They are cheap and really grim, unless you like over-sugary cardboard

Kool4kats · 13/04/2023 08:42

Olives! They have a tub in the fridge section which is identical to the ones nandos sell 🤤

GleamingGoldenTresses · 13/04/2023 08:42

Their chicken curry ( fresh ) is very good

Margaritawithlime · 13/04/2023 08:43

The rotisserie chicken! Pumped full of god knows what and I LOVE it.
And the broccoli salad which is not in fact in any way healthy but is like a trillion calories.
Don’t buy more than you need. Do buy the chicken nuggets.

Cigarettesaftersex1 · 13/04/2023 08:59

Kirkland foil most definitely, I've still got a roll on the go 10 years after I bought it

Magdachristie · 13/04/2023 09:02

Gyoza, spring rolls, salt and pepper squid and raw king prawns from the freezer section. rib and wing sauce, part baked bread. Meat and fish if you’ve room in the freezer.

And obviously a hotdog on the way out.

Peridot1 · 13/04/2023 09:03

They don’t all have petrol stations. Ours doesn’t.

MathsNervous · 13/04/2023 09:04

Fuel. Kirkland loo rolls, washing liquid detergent and fabric softener. All great.

I don't understand the love for their very artificial sickly sweet cakes. They aren't amazing at all, and I wouldn't insult any of my friends by serving up one of these nasty tasting confections.

Same, and I've got the biggest sweet tooth going. I bought one of the birthday cakes for my daughter years ago, left it out, and the sponge didn't even harden. What do they put in there?! Grin

Well just like the responses you got on the soup thread, everyone has different tastes.

Just as I didn’t like every soup option you put up (and definitely wouldn’t serve them to guests) you obviously don’t like these while others do. Isn’t it great that people like different things

Went for the first time on the weekend and was pretty underwhelmed. Thought food was more expensive than Tesco. Did a comparison with huge jar of Nutella and it was only £1 cheaper. I had my eye on a cool bag trolley so I got that but was expecting to come away with a lot more.

sleeplessinsouthhampton · 13/04/2023 09:54

all the kirkland brands in the following

also
frozen salmon portions
frozen chicken portions

VegetablesFightingToReclaimTheAubergieneEmoji · 13/04/2023 09:56

everything looks smaller in the shop, with their huge trollies and huge shelves. When you get it to the car you will realise that pancake mix is the size of a small child.

It’s aldi and lidl prices but in vast quantities so it’s only cheap if you have storage or a friend to split it with

Softoprider · 13/04/2023 09:58

It's not a cheap shop at all and you end up buying with your eyes and not your brain

I agree, they are good value for vast quantities though. End of term parties etc

Ireolu · 13/04/2023 10:00

Black bin bags
White bin bags
Toilet roll
Petrol

Food wise
Croissants
Coffee beans kirland columnian/lavazza

Ireolu · 13/04/2023 10:04

We also get whatever electronic things we need from there. We had a Samsung TV for a Yr that stopped working. They came to pick it up and refunded us in full...

The sacks of Kirkland dried cat food - our vet nurse said it was Iams - used to last our Maine Coon nearly a year.

Jewellery if there's anything you fancy.
Tyres
Batteries for a car

Used to think it was like the old argument for a freezer. You didn't save money, but ate better for the same amount.

Sadly, the two nearest to me are in Paris, 600km away, and the proposed one at Bordeaux hasn't materialised. Yet.

Aah ! Forgotten glasses and contacts. They were brilliant giving me replacement lenses when I tore the edge with a nail, and the handbag sized packs of solution, so useful for holidays.

dippyduck1 · 13/04/2023 10:43

Fuel

Cheesecake Factory mixed flavour portions

I had no idea you could buy fuel at costco! Certainly not obvious at my local one in any case, I'll have to check it out next time I go!

Only some have a fuel station. Milton Keynes for example doesn't :(

mogtheexcellent · 13/04/2023 10:48

Readings petrol station only opened in the last year so hopefully others will get one soon.
