Register baby name, ARS or AS?

DH will be registering our baby's name tomorrow

My maiden name begins with R. DH's last name begins with S. New DC is Alice.
We had always said my maiden name would be all our children's middle name because it is sentimental to me. We didn't know new baby would be called Alice until we saw her. (we were stuck between Alice and something else)

Anyway her initials will be ARS if we give her my maiden name as her middle name. And I feel like it's too close to arse 🍑 and I can't bring myself to register her with that name now as her initials will be ARS. AIBU?

I read it as Arz, not Arse. Anyway... I have 2 middle names as does my daughter. Neither of has ever, ever used any more than our first and last names. I'd stick with what you have.

I think it's sad you didn't use your maiden name, when we had trouble deciding my DH postponed the appointment to give us time to think. It sounds a bit convenient for your DH that he was registering the name and your maiden name that you say you always wanted is now suddenly not featured.
If you come out of a sleep deprived fog and regret this then in England you can change the name before the baby is one year old.

Family friends had a daughter with ARS initials. Constantly bullied for it at school. As others said just stick another name in there and you'll be fine x

My good friend’s initials are ARS and it hasn’t done her any harm in life! I remember us having a giggle about it many years ago but in a good way. People usually just give first and surname as their initials anyway unless it’s double barrelled don’t worry about it. Alice is a beautiful name.

Alice Surname has two S sounds running into each other.

Ah thanks for the heads up, that's useful to know.

The realisation of what the initials looked/sounded like wasn't anything to do with DH if that's what you mean. But I appreciate it is a bit sad to lose my maiden name but I just don't want DC to have anything annoying with her name.

I myself suffer an annoying name combo so a simple first name and last name for my baby was still a tempting option.

I used Alice for anonymity. It isn't really Alice (but a name beginning with A)

How often do you write your full initials like that?

I'm mid thirties and can't remember a single time I've written my initials together like that.

Every single day. It's my reference for work.

I use all three initials because our references and logins need three initials. If you only have two, they use X for the middle initial.

My dd initials are also ARS, I didn’t realise until quite a while after we named her. She is 11 and only recently realised that it almost arse and she seems to find it quite funny!
