To think mil is going over the top.

Just had an angry phone call from mil. Seemingly the young couple who just bought the house next door to her have put planning permission in for an extension.

Mother in law is furious and cites as her reasons:

They only have one child, why do they need an extension.

No one on the Avenue has an extension (this is not true).

She has lived on the Avenue since 1973 so has more rights then her new neighbours.

AIBU to think she is an interfering old bat who begrudges young people any advancement.

(She put the phone down on me when I did not agree with her comments).

Of course you are, and of course they will get it. Leave her stew, it could be good for a giggle.

oops, I meant of course you are NOT.

You are being perfectly reasonable, you know that.

MY MIL decided that we HAD to have a conservatory when we bought our house, we resisted for 7 years!! Then when we had one designed and it was going to be in dark wood, she told us we MUST have a white one. SHe then got FIL to call us and tell us it must be white. Then she told DH it was my fault as I must be common, brown ones are common!!

FFS we live in a cottage, every window in our cottage is brown wood, we were trying to match the conservatory to the house!!!
