Not had any fun

This is partly lighthearted I'm not taking it too seriously.

But aibu to think that this fairly normal for a school holiday?

I asked ds (7) if he was enjoying the holidays. He said we hadn't done anything fun.

So far we've been to a farm park, went to a Ninja Warrior adventure park, baked cakes twice, had a movie afternoon with hot dogs and snacks, went out for pizza, been to several different parks with his bike/football and he's played, had friends over to play, visited grandparents, went for a walk in the woods. There are still a few days left and we'd hoped for days out but it's a bit weather dependent.

I know most of that is fairly standard stuff but, the weather has been bad most days, we suggested to the dc going away for a night or two and neither of them wanted to go, we asked the dc to make a list of anything they'd like to do. Eldest said nothing, youngest said nothing because we do stuff like swimming, trampolining all the time and he gets bored.

It sounds like you've done plenty. Good luck for the summer holidays!

That’s kids for you. You do amazing things and they don’t remember - you mess up once and you’ll hear about it for the rest of your life 😂

They are hard taskmasters. My 8yo is the same. If I ask him the favourite bit of his holiday I can guarantee he'll say "none of it." However he is clearly enjoying his time when I watch him bouncing on stuff etc.

I think I'll stop inviting feedback!

Well ours had barely any fun in that case

A trip to GPs cottage in the cotswolds, spme baking, swimming lessons this week and an Easter egg hunt at home.

Feel quite mean now

Lol Kidssss! We came back from a big holiday and the kids done so much abroad it was manic I needed my own holiday after tbh 🤣.

When we got home DS must of been around this age and the family came over to see us and they said did you have fun to Ds?! What did you do? Son shrugged not a lot really 🤣😳.

TheChosenTwo · 11/04/2023 18:22

Haha that’s kids for you!!
Last week my ds went to london for the day, had dinner out twice, went pottery painting, went to top golf, trip to the seaside with arcades, went to the park and most days had lunch out too. My mum asked him at the weekend if he’d had a nice week and what he’d got up to, he replied “it’s been okay thanks, I played scrabble with mum.” 😂 which he had, but I was a bit miffed that he mostly remembered a boring activity I squeezed in during my lunchbreak (wfh!) although I guess you could say that it was lovely that he remembered that above all else 🤣

Last week I went all out, took the kids to London, out for dinner spent time with lovely family and doing things I knew they would love. Today my eight year old spent the whole day at an outdoor adventure place in the pouring rain and wind, getting freezing and soaked and sodden.
When I collected him he said it was the
”Best day of the holidays”

😂

This is just what they say unless you've just done two weeks at disney. Don't worry about it, you've done loads of fun stuff!

QueefQueen80s · 11/04/2023 19:36

Bloody hell, you've done more than double what my two have done and they are happy with that.
