Bruising on child legs with no explanation

I’m really worried about my daughters legs they have bruising on them. I am of course going to call my GP in the morning but right now I’m going crazy googling and finding all sorts of diseases it could be a sign of. Please tell me if you’ve experienced similar with your kids please. She has been with me all week so no chance of anyone doing this to her. She’s doesn’t remember how it happened and it doesn’t hurt when I touch it. What could be the cause?

I'll just remind you again that it's just been a four day bank holiday and there's now a four day junior doctor strike.

Ideally, watch and wait for a week or so (as there are no concerns other than these totally normal looking bruises) might let some people with serious health issues actually get an appointment to see someone! So, no, that's not affecting me personally but it's still affecting someone.

If op thinks her child seems actually ill, as well as those bruises, sure, rush to the GP.

Please remember what others have said. Bruises from disorders look very different to that and tend to be in strange places - forearms, tummy etc. Keep an eye on them by all means - I suspect they will fade over the next few days. If they don't, then maybe contact your GP. It's a bit daft to contact them straight away. Most issues always have a 'contact your GP if there is no change after 2 weeks'.

That’s me too 😂 I have Hypermobility as part of another condition. Didn’t want to worry OP though as no way would the GP diagnose it over two bruises - would take a lot more unexplained bruises and other symptoms! Hope your child and the poster are both coping well 😊

It's absolutely normal to have bruised shins. My 6.5 year old has never had clear shins

If I went to a GP all worked up over a healthy child who didn't recall how they got two bruises on their shins, I think I'd be getting looked at for anxiety rather than my kid getting looked at for cancer.

I feared this too, but as accompanied with nose bleeds, I did raise it. Turned out to be haemophilia, so I was glad I asked, even though I felt a bit sheepish doing it...
