A month ago, I booked an acupuncture appointment for May. The acupuncturist has a website with some fairly credible looking reviews.
They emailed me to ask me to pay upfront as they get a lot of cancellations. They want me to pay now although the appointment is in May.
is it reasonable to ask for payment upfront? They’ve sent me a link to pay online. I’ve never met them in person or spoken on the phone. All via email.
my risk is I could pay and then turn up in May and they don’t even exist (scam) although that feels unlikely given I’ve seen a convincing ish website.
should I pay?
yabu - it’s standard to pay upfront, go ahead.
yanbu - don’t pay until you’ve confirmed it’s not a scammer by meeting in person.
