Ring doorbell - anyone else had this?

Neighbours seem to have a lot of visitors including late at night and early in the morning. Their Ring doorbell makes an audible electronic "ding-dong-ding" from the outside every time anyone uses it.

We were disturbed by it at 1am last night and awakened again at 7.30am today (Easter Sunday). These kinds of times are not unusual. Terraced house so close proximity - their front door is about 3m diagonally below my bedroom window.

Why does it need to ring on the outside (as well as presumably the inside)?
If you're a Ring owner, do you know if you can switch this function off?
AIBU to be irritated by it, and to ask them to do so?

Yes you can. Go into settings you can narrow the parameters that it picks up and also turn off motion alert so it only rings if someone presses it.

But someone is pressing it. It's not the motion sensor.

I think it dings on the outside so people know it's working and don't keep pressing it.

Ah right I think I read it wrong, I thought the ops ring doorbell was going off when it was picking up movement next door. I think you've read it correctly hopeishere in which case I've no clue if the outside chime can be switched off.

You can change the setting so it just lights up and only rings indoors

Yes it rings on the outside when someone presses it. No ordinary doorbell does this.

I have same problem with neighbours across the road. I keep wanting to ask them to adjust it because it wakes me when I need to sleep in the day. However I’ve never met them, and they’ll know it’s me obviously, when I have no desire to be known as ‘that one who complained’ in case they’re that type of neighbour! Giving them time to realise as they’ve only just started using it.

I don't think you can turn that bit off..not everyone has a chime inside the house, you have to get that seperate.
