Help! Dog ate a sanitary towel

From the bin in bathroom. It seems he made. Run gif upstairs whilst I was hiding eggs. Came down and my dd was trying to pull something from his mouth and he quickly gulped it down.
he’s eaten abs drunk since playing fine, like nothings up. To be fair it’s not his first rodeo I’m just worried as it looks like it was a whole used sanitary towel. Do I let nature take its course?

Personally I’d phone the vets for advice.

Dogs are so gross, ours likes to get into poopy nappies, you have to watch like a hawk and take seconds form change to outdoor bin or he'll swipe it.

If he ate it whole call the vet to check him over but honestly it'll likely just pass through and you will all gag

DustyLee123 · 09/04/2023 08:00

Im assuming it has those beads that swell up in it , so I’d be ringing the vet.

I would phone the vet for advice too.

One of our dogs did this, but it was more than one sanitary towel he ate, it was nearly a full small bins worth. He was fine. The vet said unless he started vomiting or appearing unwell to let nature take its course.

Because of the beads in it, I'd contact the vet for advice. They may tell you to wait it out but if you need to come in, better to do it than regret not doing it later.

Dogs are so gross. My sister’s dog ate her menstrual cup!

I’d probably let nature take its course unless the dog takes a turn.

For anyone who may Google this!
mess told by vet he had to go in and have an injection to throw it up. Very expensive insurance with an excess helps!
poor little love was all happy until his injection but wa stage best thing. Aparaktl s. Sanitary towels with blood on it can be fatal. They said it’s not in usual for dogs to do this
little boy is fine and happy now bless him.
If we had of left it could have got caught in his intestines and choked him or been fatal! Would have cost 2l to save his life so glad I took advice to call the vet even though I was trying to save money by not doing so. Little baby boy is fine abs well and we have peace of mind!

I’m glad he’s okay - but they’re little (adorable) sods aren’t they! I’ve got a new dog and he’s chewing everything he can get his mouth on, so I’m constantly watching him. We quickly learnt to get rid of the waste paper bin as he was eating the contents of that. Thanks for heads up on this - I will definitely make sure he doesn’t have access to the bathroom bin now.
