Our easter plans are scuppered and we have 2 distraught little girls. Family who we haven't seen since last summer were due to visit for a week but are now unwell and can't travel :-(

We're in Buckinghamshire. Please give us ideas for a few nights away within 4 hours drive. Somewhere that an 8 and 4 year old will love as a special treat. Also dog friendly and newborn friendly! Thank you.

Last year I took my DD to legoland discovery and sealife in Birmingham, hotel and then to Cadburys world. Next day we went off to Warwick castle too. We have also been to draton manor there too.

If your looking for staying in one place, maybe Center Parcs, or a Haven site?

I'm sorry your plans have changed. I live in Derbyshire which is about 2.5 hours away from Buckinghamshire and there is so much to do and beautiful countryside. Have a look at Heights of Abraham in Matlock Bath, Crich Tramway museum, Gullivers Kingdom in Matlock, although that one not dog friendly).

Thanks both!! Will take a look at those :-)

Paris/Disneyland Paris? Do-able in about 4 hours?

The dog will complicate things. Do you have any options of asking someone to look after them?

Go on holiday cottages uk page on Facebook and ask what dog friendly availability there is for your dates. I'd head for the seaside, maybe a farm cottage with animals for the dc to look at, somewhere with a pier/child friendly activities nearby. There's been loads of posts on there this week and plenty of places coming up as available last minute.
