West Midlands child sex ring (disturbing content)

Was just reading the thread about how child murderers/rapists shouldn't ever be released and saw a link to the below story. I work in these towns and lived in the area for almost a decade so it was a bit of a shock I've not heard anything about it.

I'm always surprised by the prominence of women in trafficking rings, not least because you'd expect them to have more empathy with the victims. I'm guessing though many may have been trafficked themselves. A lot of people don't seem to know this but circa 60% of the traffickers in Eastern Europe and Asia are female nowadays according to the available research/data.

Eight women are among 21 members of horrific child sex ring convicted for 'abhorrent and cruel' abuse of kids no older than 12 over a decade - with 13 of the evil paedophiles jailed for a total of 145 years

Seven women jailed for total of 58 years with part in paedophile gang

Their depraved offending was uncovered when a hospital visit by one victim sparked concerns leading to the largest ever child sex abuse case investigated by West Midlands Police.

I am always shocked by female abusers but they exist and paedophiles are all sexes they havent all been abused or Co erced. They are as sick as the males. Also I think this lot are a couple of families as most all have same surnames truly sickening

determinedtomakethiswork · 06/04/2023 00:19

I was really shocked by this too. When I saw their faces, all of them, it was so upsetting as they look so scary. Those poor children. 😢😢😢

Northernsouloldies · 06/04/2023 00:26

Those poor children being passed around among those creatures. I include the males in the creature category not just the women.

Amortentia · 06/04/2023 00:30

What’s even more horrifying but probably explains how they got away with it for so long is that they all seem to be related to one another. There’s only about 5 different surnames, and many appear to be married to each other or parents/adult children. Absolutely horrific for the victims. Terrible for the police, social services and the jury who had to sit through the trials.

StepAwayFromTheBiscuitJar · 06/04/2023 00:33

I didn't clock the surnames. That makes sense. Makes me feel weird knowing this was happening so close to me, although there's horrid stuff happening everywhere behind closed doors tbf.

I was also living around there until not long ago so I know what you mean.

Sounds like news about it was restricted by the courts until now, but even so Im amazed I didnt just hear people talking about this as I still have a lot of family in the area

Issynohosbox · 06/04/2023 00:51

Literally on my street, first any of the neighbours knew was the first trial, then they imposed reporting restrictions and there's been nothing else til now when all the trials are over. Horrible shock, I said hello in passing to these monsters.

Wavinggoodbyetoo · 06/04/2023 01:05

It’s parents and their adult male children. Horrifying.

StandingOvulation · 06/04/2023 01:08

I'm local too, and just utterly baffled that these horrific crimes v could be below the radar.

Though I suppose it means there's no media influence on the jury and less likely for appeals to be lodged.

They walk among us Angry

Dibbydoos · 06/04/2023 01:09

Its not shocking women are involved, we all know women who are are easy to dupe and coerce and some woman are perverted too.

This is going on under our noses. We all need to improve our vigilance to identify it too.

I sincerely hope these young people are given all the support they need.

The perps can rot in hell for me. I hope prison is where they reap what they've sowed.

HappiDaze · 06/04/2023 01:12

The children were all under 12 and it had been going on for over 10 years meaning the children probably didn't realise it was wrong as they'd been subjected to whatever hell since birth

Thank god for that one child's hospital visit and someone being on the ball to finally stop it continuing and bringing them to justice

PicturesOfDogs · 06/04/2023 01:17

Those poor children.

It sickens you to realise how often this goes on, and it literally could be anyone.

It makes you want to just lock your door and never let your kids out of your sight

sst1234 · 06/04/2023 01:17

Look folks, we live in a society where children are treated to drag story time at school and graphic sex education. Have you heard about the channel 4 show on sex education. It’s all being normalized, soon children won’t even know that what’s being to them is wrong. Sickos like these will be able to get away with what ever they want. Be sickened by people like these. But be outraged by the systemic setup of abuse by our institutions.

JudgeRudy · 06/04/2023 01:29

I'm sure we are all appalled this happens. Tbh I'm not shocked women are involved but I hadn't expected the % to be so scewed forwards women. I am surprised though at ghe amount of home grown talent so that's a challenge to my assumptions.
One thing I cannot help but notice is how these women look. At one time 'inmates' were certainly depicted as ugly thugs and studies back this up. I can't help but wonder if there's are correlation between looks and offence. We know previous abuse can increase the likelihood of becoming an abuser (the majority of victims I know are not abusers) I can't help wonder if a society that values women' for their looks has somehow rejected these women and destroyed their humanity?

What a ridiculous thing to say, the issue shouldn't be the attractiveness levels of the female abusers but their crimes. I know stories about Venessa George and Tracy Connelly always focus on their weight and appearance as if that makes their crimes even more heinous.

There are plenty of women who look the same as these women who do not abuse, I think most of them have pretty average looks. I also note nobody is dissecting the men's appearance and asking if that played a role in their vile behaviour.

I'm shocked that so many women were involved in the abuse and also that it seems that multiple generations of the same families seem to be involved.

RogersOrganismicProcess · 06/04/2023 03:06

Horrendous, those poor children. I hope they are being given the very best support.

I always used to tell my DC “if you are lost, find someone in a uniform, like the police, or another mother (with a pram). How terrifying to think that both of these options no longer seem so safe. I am more shocked at women and mothers abusing children, than I am about some in the police acting abusively.

NandorsFamilar · 06/04/2023 03:17

Sadly these things occur everywhere and I guess if you never know any different, you (as a kid) do not realise there is help available.

There was an awful case in Australia which was uncovered about 10 years ago. It was intergenerational abuse and incest and they believe went back quite a few decades

Divisionoflabour89 · 06/04/2023 03:51

Truly horrific. The ultimate betrayal of a child’s trust from the very people who should be protecting them. What chance would a child have growing up in a family where this appalling abuse was perpetrated by the grandfather?

I am impressed by the length of the sentences and by the long or indefinite restraining orders. The judge or judges did a good job.

And it just goes to highlight the importance of having hospital workers - nurses and doctors - who are not so pressed for time that they are able to stop and ask the important questions.

iamnottoofatiamjusttooshort · 06/04/2023 04:54

@NandorsFamilar that is one of the most disturbing things I've read on here

Those poor children

It is very odd isn't it!

How the hell do these "families" exist

PogoThePunk · 06/04/2023 06:00

A total of 58 years to share between them.
It should have bloody been 58 years each!!
Filthy noncing scumbags!

OneFrenchEgg · 06/04/2023 07:33

I'm surprised they named everyone, I thought that was avoided when the victims were family membersz

StylishM · 06/04/2023 07:40

My relative was involved in giving evidence in this case in a professional capacity. Unfortunately their experience is that these 'family rings' are way more common than you think. Sometimes they've been living this way and grooming one another for 2/3/4 generations, the children are sexualised from babyhood and don't know any different. They seriously struggle to adjust to life in foster families because they're so overtly sexualised and the statistics for the abused going on to become future abusers is very distressing. Innocent babies are being born to a life where they have no chance, from the start.

There's a huge correlation between unemployment, low level crime, sexual abuse, low literacy levels and general mistrust of any authorities, so these people fly under the radar unless something triggers the investigation, such as the hospital visit in this case. Thank god the person who reported it took their duty of care seriously. Those poor, poor children.
