Woman driving past house waving

Teeandmoonrepeat · 05/04/2023 14:41

This morning, pretty early-9ish, I was getting DD’s breakfast ready and the dog was going nuts, barking like crazy. I went to see and there was a car slowly driving past, almost stopping outside, with a woman looking into the house. She kept staring in and driving past, each time she could see me come to stand at the window , she’d slow right down and start waving madly at me 😬I was a bit like 🤷🏻‍♀️and moved my dog away to stop her barking, she then drove off.
Any idea what that kind of situation can be about 🙈

Seriously?!

I'd log with MI5 too.

Best to be sure...

Blessedbethefknfruit · 05/04/2023 17:18

Someone did this to us when I was a kid and we lived in a 3 story house.
Turns out our boiler had caught fire, along with half of the top floor (Smoke alarms must have been dead).
We were all downstairs in the kitchen eating lunch, wondering why the lady outside was waving her hands at us.

GMOOH2023 · 05/04/2023 17:19

I'd log with MI5 too.

Ooh yes. Could be the "final piece of the jigsaw".

What @EasyPeelersAreNotSatsumas said - like in the old public information film about calling the lifeguard. "It's that gentleman from table 12, he's waving - coo-ie, luvley day int it?"

We're showing our ages here I think 🙃

Log it with 101. And 111 just to be sure. Probably CrimeStoppers as well.

Might as well chuck in Action Fraud while we're at it

She probably has some form of mental illness.

Confused

I sometimes randomly wave at people just for a laugh

My brother does this too, people usually wave back looking confused

IShouldGoToSleep · 05/04/2023 18:32

I don't want to sound completely loopy, but I have once or twice driven past my (now deceased) mum's old house and given her a wave. She died two years ago. After she died I'd buy her a coffee and me a coffee and sit in the lounge talking to her and drinking my coffee - and then hers! After we sold the house I have occasionally popped back to give her a wave 😵‍💫🙁🙁

Teeandmoonrepeat · 05/04/2023 18:38

So I told Dh and explained it all
and he said she was probably was looking for directions and why didn’t I go out and speak to her 🤷🏻‍♀️and thinks I was being odd
So at 9 am in my pjs, with my dog going nuts and making my 4 year olds breakfast, I have to open my patio doors, down my drive onto the road to go to a woman driving past my house wtf

Somewhere on another forum, there’s a woman posting “I’m sooo embarrassed, just drove what I thought was my mate’s house, waving like a loon, when I realised I got the wrong street, right number. What do I do? Go and apologise? Pretend it never happened?”

Or you could have just ignored it and got on with your day??

Teeandmoonrepeat · 05/04/2023 19:59

@Cheesyfootballs01 I did, but then was wondering about it afterwards

I’ve seen her go past my house.
She changes her car and her hair style and colour regularly but your description fits her to a tee.

What if they're on on it? Best get a private investigator.

Bassetlover · 05/04/2023 20:23

Maybe there was a wasp in the car and she was trying to get rid of it!

davegrohll · 05/04/2023 20:28

So she was just going past one way waving, then coming back the other way waving again ? 🤣🤣 madness

Teeandmoonrepeat · 05/04/2023 20:36

@davegrohll She slowed right down and waved each time I came to the window 😂

I make home visits to vulnerable people and sometimes struggle to find addresses so wonder if it could be something like that.
If someone is looking at me while I try to locate a house I would wave.

Piffle is taking the piss 🤣

Thank you for my new username Grin

midsomermurderess · 05/04/2023 21:07

Do you live on Barra?

NaturalStudy · 05/04/2023 21:17

Are you sure the woman wasn't Sandra Bullock and the car wasn't infact a bus with a bomb attached to it?

StopStartStop · 05/04/2023 21:24

I blew a kiss to a woman on Bradford ring road because she was so lovely and attentive to her dd, a small primary school child. Poor woman, she was really confused. If you're reading, missus, you're a great mam, and it shows.

StopStartStop · 05/04/2023 21:25

So, maybe your waver just wants to show her appreciation...

CherrySocks · 05/04/2023 21:27

So she went past several times? Was she circling the block ie always passing your window in the same direction, OR, was she going back and forth ie from left to right then right to left then left to right?

I think it makes a difference...... I mean there's more effort involved in going back and forth than going round in circles.
