Woman driving past house waving

Teeandmoonrepeat · 05/04/2023 14:41

This morning, pretty early-9ish, I was getting DD’s breakfast ready and the dog was going nuts, barking like crazy. I went to see and there was a car slowly driving past, almost stopping outside, with a woman looking into the house. She kept staring in and driving past, each time she could see me come to stand at the window , she’d slow right down and start waving madly at me 😬I was a bit like 🤷🏻‍♀️and moved my dog away to stop her barking, she then drove off.
Any idea what that kind of situation can be about 🙈

@tescocreditcard If it was another woman, why would she be waving nicely to me 🤷🏻‍♀️

Why is OW the answer to everything on here 🙄

So as not to arouse your suspicion? I don't know, it's just where my mind went! 🤷‍♀️

EsmeSusanOgg · 05/04/2023 15:37

Bit weird! How many times did she do this? Once, I could think she was trying to find a house and waved because she saw you... But a few times is just odd.

So that you couldn't accuse her of doing anything bad but she still made her presence known.

JennyTheDonkey · 05/04/2023 15:43

I sometimes randomly wave at people just for a laugh

JennyTheDonkey · 05/04/2023 15:43

But it wasn't me today

Exactly this. Mention it to your DH and see if he seems ruffled.

Piffle is taking the piss 🤣

Lol fair enough, but there are people on here that would absolutely do this.

It’s strange that she did it over and over. One time could mean she was admiring your garden (spring flowers?) and then waved when she saw you at the window. We get that a lot here. And we wave to each other even strangers, walking or in cars. But she kept driving past again and again, that is weird. Could you tell if she was looking at your yard, or house, or on purpose looking for someone at the window?

A little mystery. I’m so s curious, I’d be wondering too, op.

Jamatotomy · 05/04/2023 15:58

Potential buyer for a house on your road? Trying to decide if the neighbours are friendly?
Escaped from a mental institution?
A tinder date gave her the wrong address?
Waiting for you to be scared enough to leave the house so she can park on your drive?
Distracting you so someone can break in through the back door?

PippaF2 · 05/04/2023 16:02

She's probably found her mates house now and is saying- OMG I was waving at this woman thinking it was you.....she must think I'm a lunatic, I couldn't work out why she wasn't waving back. And they laughed about it.

Walkinginthesand · 05/04/2023 16:06

Perhaps she was needing directions and as you were the only person looking out the window in the road thought that by waving at you you’d drop everything to help her.

Teeandmoonrepeat · 05/04/2023 16:20

@PippaF2 My immediate thought was this, perhaps not a friend but a house she’d arranged go to and hadn’t been to before…I don’t know why..Facebook marketplace item to pick up or something, I don’t know and she didn’t know the person and thought it was the house 🤷🏻‍♀️

Teeandmoonrepeat · 05/04/2023 16:21

@GMOOH2023 😂

It was just a bit annoying, dog barking her head off and I’d not long been up and was in pjs 😆

Escaped from a mental institution?

When I escaped from mental institutions I tended to be obviously unwell, sometimes distressed, usually trying not to draw too much unnecessary attention to myself, and not to have access to a car, rather than doing ordinary things like pootling along and cheerily greeting people because I thought I recognised them, or giving a friendly wave because I was trying to smooth over the awkwardness of being noticed passing someone's house multiple times. And if I did do those things, it wouldn't be because I'd absconded from psychiatric care.

Or did you just think of this as a humourous reference that couldn't be applicable to the people you're chatting with?

EasyPeelersAreNotSatsumas · 05/04/2023 16:23
season 9 help GIF

Her brakes have failed and she waved to get your attention. Has to keep turning around and coming back as she simply can't stop. She'd desperate for you to get help.
You know. Like the drowning man waving towards the beach.
Save her!

ASixPackAndTheRadio · 05/04/2023 16:27

Sorry to be the one to break it to you but.....I think your dog has another secret family.

NooNakedJacuzziness · 05/04/2023 16:34

What @EasyPeelersAreNotSatsumas said - like in the old public information film about calling the lifeguard. "It's that gentleman from table 12, he's waving - coo-ie, luvley day int it?"

L3ThirtySeven · 05/04/2023 16:49

Local Jehovahs Witness?

Teeandmoonrepeat · 05/04/2023 16:52

@L3ThirtySeven She just didn’t seem like a JW-blonde hair, sunglasses, BMW suv type car 🙈🤷🏻‍♀️😅
