To think this shouldn’t be happening?

I basically got told after a year working in my job that I was shit and that I’m now on a performance plan, no bonus, no pay rise.

My manager was awful. Refused to let me shadow her. I genuine tried my best and if I am shit then that’s fine but to take a year to tell me that?

Manager is now on maternity leave (she’s taking 6 months) and now she’s dumped all her work on me. Which would happen in most situations anyway I get that.

But surely if I’m so shit at my job and on a performance plan why would it be acceptable to give me work of someone at least two levels above me?

She also did no handover with me.

No, that’s really odd. How do you feel you are getting on? Is it a big enough firm to have an hr presence as your managers words and actions aren’t stacking up.

I would put in a meeting with your manager’s manager and HR, and say you will only do the additional work if they confirm the performance plan was an error, ask for the bonus to be retrospectively applied and for the pay rise to be applied too.

Companies often do this to women, you need to stand up for yourself.

Is this so now when she's back they can say you couldn't cop with workload and fail the performance plan so can get rid of you and appear to of followed policy? I'd start job hunting tbh

I wouldn’t be allowed to be on the plan that long. I’d either be off it or it would have escalated to be more formal and have warnings etc (or sacked) by the time she got back.

give it to her manager and say obvs you can't do it because she's 2 levels up from you and you have it in writing that you're shit.

(Look for a new job anyway)

If they come back and give you her work say: then i want off the plan, i want my bonus and the pay rise as though that didn't happen.

Are you in a union?
