Beko hob - can't get lock off!!

Sorry blatantly posting for traffic!

I sometimes find that I go to use my hob and it won't turn on, it just flashes a light over the 'lock' symbol. I usually fiddle around pressing the lock and after a while yet it to work. This time I just can't seem to get it to work!

I've tried the manual but there is no information about this situation. It is so annoying - I haven't been able to cook dinner tonight.

Has anyone got a hob like this and knows how to turn the lock off?

I have - sometimes I find that any of the touch switches can fail to work if either the surface ir
my fingers are damp or dirty. You could try a bit of a clean!

Is that an induction hob? If so try pressing & holding the power button for like 10 seconds. That's how I unlock mine

SeaDee · 03/04/2023 19:40

If my hob locks I have to hold it down for about 10 seconds

UndertheCedartree · 03/04/2023 19:46

It's not dirty - it is responding by flashing on the lock. I've tried holding the lock and also the on button for 10 seconds with no luck. I'm sure that's the kind of thing I usually do!

Also: maybe try switching it off at the mains, giving it a few minutes to calm down and come to its senses, switching it on again - might reset it?

That's the manual I have. As far as I can tell it says to press the lock key for 2 seconds. But this doesn't work!

I tried this! Left it off for half an hour. But still when I turned it back on and tried to switch it on the bastard lock key is still flashing!! I have never wanted to lock the bloody hob - it just locks itself - not helpful atall!!

Maybe a fault then. Is it still under warranty by any chance?

strawberryseed · 03/04/2023 22:11

You did this bit?:

Activating/Deactivating the key lock:
1 Touch and hold the cleaning lock key and the stop and go key simultaneously until a single signal sound is heard. The key lock will now be activated and the decimal point above the lock key will be displayed.
2 You can only activate the key lock in operation mode. Only the on/off button will be functional when the key lock is active. If you switch the hob off when the keys are locked you must deactivate the key lock in order to be able to switch the hob on again.
3 To deactivate the key lock, touch and hold the cleaning lock key and the stop and go key simultaneously until two signal sounds are heard. An ‘L’ will blink on the cooking zone display and the decimal point above the lock key will disappear

It doesn't have a cleaning lock key or stop and go key.
