What has really made you laugh recently?

I really need cheering up!

It feels so long since I had a really good laugh.
Any funny stories would be really welcome right now.

Well this is very black……

My Mother died last year and my inheritance landed this week, we went out for a long lunch which my mother would very much have approved of.

However I did say to DS that when I was younger and properly broke and people used to say I would rather have them than the money, I used to think yeah right……but now I get it. However DS jumped in before I could finish and said you would give it all back for one more day with Nana , I said we are on a happy lunch I was going to go that deep.🤐

He and I both took a fit of laughing at how I was trying to keep it upbeat and he brought it down.

I suspect you had to be there, but we both laughed until we cried.

DH who doesn’t get our sense of humour looked on bemused…..

Another person who couldn’t identify the Queen was Beryl Bainbridge. The author was at a Palace function one year and, miffed at not being able to smoke, complained to another woman that it was a boring party. Someone quickly dragged her away. “You can’t speak to the Queen like that,” they told her. “Oh dear,” Bainbridge replied. “I thought it was Vera Lynn.”

I was watching that programme about the Boleyn family on BBC last night. There was a bit in it about the Field of Cloth of Gold. They showed the painting on the Telly for a couple of seconds and I was like “hang on is that a fucking dragon top left? The painter just stuck a dragon in for bants even though they don’t exist?” That really tickled me: someone like - “Steve: that’s a great painting and the King is gonna love it but the only thing missing is a dragon”.

Turns out the dragon WAS actually in the scene - it’s an enormous kite, apaz.
