Debit Finance Ltd setting up direct debit without my authorisation

Surely this cannot be right.

I have had no correspondence from this company and I did not set this direct debit up.

A quick google tells me they deal with incorrectly cancelled gym memberships and similar. To the best of my knowledge I have never had a gym membership as I can’t afford them.

I will call my bank this morning but wanted to warn people that it seems this company can just reach in to your bank about t and remove money without any prior correspondence and without your agreement or permission.

they have taken £30 which doesn’t sound like a lot but to us it’s food on the table because money is very very tight right now. ….to the extent I have taken on a second job.

Fuming

Thank you, the Trustpilot reviews are appalling.

When you call your bank, ask for a chargeback and you will need to report to action fraud in case someone has used your details fraudulently.

Contact your bank and you can get the money back immediately via the DD guarantee/indemnity claim.

You should be able to get the money back straight away under the direct debit guarantee.

It could be just a mistake. Or a deliberate ruse by someone trying to get out of their gym membership to not pay it themselves? Hopefully the bank will be able to do their own investigations behind the scenes to sort it out, but try not to worry and just keep a close eye on your account to make sure they don't keep taking money from you.
