To take puppy out before second vaccine?

Puppy is 15 weeks and getting his 2nd vaccine tomorrow. I know it's a bit late, but that was out of my control.

Worried his socialisation window sort of ends at 16 weeks and by the time it's been a week, he will be 16 weeks. Is it okay to take him out before the second vaccine has fully kicked in? I know there's some studies on people finding it beneficial after the first vaccine.

Thanks

My ex MIL puppy had a horrible illness so I personally would rather risk socialising ’late’ tbh, I think you might as well keep them safe and then pick up on the other development later… it’s a guideline not a huge rule?

Parvovirus is rife in some areas at the moment so I wouldn't risk it.

When I got my pomeranian at 16 weeks she hadn't been vaccinated so until she was fully vaccinated I took her out in a puppy pushchair. She got used to traffic and lots of people giving her fuss. She also saw other dogs whilst we were out and I think it really helped

Early socialisation is so important.

I took mine out after their first vaccinations in a puppy carrier to kick start the socialisation process and let them meet people and lots of different situations. They also came into pubs and cafes with me. I just kept them off the ground apart from when I thought they needed a wee when I'd choose a spot where other dogs were less likely to have been. The chances of them picking up anything were small.

I also let them play with friends' dogs (who had been vaccinated) in the house. We live rurally and I was actually far more worried about them contacting lepto from the local rat population than I was about them getting parvo etc.

Can you invited a known healthy dog round for a little potter in the garden?

I wasn't able to take mine out before 14 weeks and it did worry me. Three weeks later and she's ridiculously social. It's hard to believe a window fully closes at 16 weeks. But there are other things you can do. Have friends over. Take puppy to friends houses and safe gardens. If you can carry her carry her about. We didn't have any dog owning friends but her love of people seemed to transfer immediately onto dogs.
