To think my two year old might sleep through...

Who am I kidding my two and a half year old has never slept through. However we've just been out for Sunday lunch, where she ate SO much and has had no nap today. We left at 4pm and she fell asleep around 4.20pm. I got her back home and settle asleep about 17.20 and have a glimmer of hope she might sleep through until the morning... her normal bedtime is 7.30pm. Or have I just buggered everything up and she's now going to wake up at 9pm and not settle until 3am? You'd think I'd have sussed this whole toddler sleep routine by now haha x

Im guessing you can possibly expect an early start to the day tomorrow. As in 5am Grin

So she started sleep for the night at 4:20? I’m so confused.
Why did you put her to bed at 5:20 rather than waking her?

RosaBonheur · 02/04/2023 17:53

Sorry OP but she'll be up for the day at 3am.

You should have woken her up when you got home.

@Albiboba because she seemed so tired she was asleep when I took her out of the car and just went straight into the cot xxx

I had a friend who regularly put her toddlers to bed at 5:30pm and they slept far better than mine ever did. Maybe you’ve cracked it? Hope so! I totally empathise with the fear you are feeling 🤣 Keep us posted OP…

My daughter is the same, also a non sleeper. Yesterday she slept from 5.30pm through to 4.45 am which is her normal waking. So you never know...

The best nights sleep my very early rising DD has ever had was 5.30pm- 6.30am. Usually she’s up at 5 ish, but after randomly zonking out in the buggy back from nursery once she went right through and had a (comparative) lie in.

So I wouldn’t write things off yet.

Just an update to all you lovely lot who took the time to reply. Sadly it wasn't a miracle cure and she woke up at 6.30pm and then didn't se until 10.30pm. She did sleep through until 8 tho haha

Oh Crikey! I bet you were panicking when she woke up at 6:30pm!! I’m so glad the days of naps, and particularly the danger naps, are behind me 🤣
